Well if this is true then it is time to hire a lawyer. These track promoters are not god almighty.

Ahh, but Mr. Greedy Bozo, you forgot the rest of the "law". In order to make it "Super True", one must say something like the following:

I was at mt. vernon saturday night and it is true that punches were thrown at a father and son, but this is not even close to the whole story....

But not give even the slightest detail as to who, what, when, etc... Just let everyone know you saw, play it cool, not mention another single detail, and then leave them on the edge of the cliff wondering about "the whole story"!!?? This Dave, officially makes it "Super True".

HERE IS WHAT WENT DOWN AT MT. VERNON SATURDAY NIGHT!!

John Gurley and I were informed by the track promoter that he was short and wanted to pay everyone in checks for the A-Main. I went around and gathered up all drivers and owners to discuss the situation.

Aric Gentry suggested we all load up and not run. We then all decided to go up to the push off ramp and let the fans know why we weren’t on the track yet. A lot of chaos took place from there and punches were thrown. Some of the punches struck young Sprint Car Driver Tyler Trainor and his Dad. Some of our ASCT Officials were also hit trying to get the Mt. Vernon officials off of Tyler and his Dad.

The cops were called and told what happened, but no arrests were made at that time. Charges may still be filed, only time will tell.

It was a very unfortunate incident that never needed to escalate to our officials, drivers, and owners being assaulted!!

We did run the Feature after all, and I was personally paid cash, but 1st, 2nd, and possibly 3rd were paid in checks. I hope they are good.

I am relieved to be back home and look forward to another race somewhere else.

Thanks,

J.T. Stapp

Damn, who runs that track, the mob?

And isn't this the same POS track that was too cheap to put up fencing in front of their pit stands? Just a dirt ramp and a late model flew into the stands and killed/injured some spectators about two years ago.

Sounds like a wonderful place that needs to be shut down.

I think it is the same POS as you spoke of, Rick Heck.
J.T. was correct about the account of what happened for the most part. Hecks 2 boys, who race some fendered cars, were summoned to help their dad. When they jumped the guard rail on the pit ramp, they just started knocking down and swinging at innocent people....it was mob like. A couple of track workers helped too. And then the way we were treated and cussed at by the promotor during all of this, caused me to load my car and leave, as did my dad and his car. With the law on the way, and the rest of the pit (local drivers) attitude towards us, we left. Everyone wanted to stick together....shook hands on it and all, and then they still ran. I stood up for what I thought was right...I guess everyone else did what they thought was.
To the guy who asked, 10 cars started the A Main, Alex Shanks won.
