Yes i have run with and without the wing. A dirt car with a wing somewhat comperitive. A dirt car with out the wing is a handful. I am afraid that we are too late. When hoss started as capitol and when sod ran some pavement everybody had dirt made into combo cars, gradually the dirt cars went away. I think 1 or 2 dirt cars this year. It would be hard to get guys to sell and go back.

Yes, i have run american racer, both on sprint and midgets. They do last longer, but with a bigger car count you might not make the feature. Their tire takes longer "to come in" thus slower qualifing, and slower first laps of the heat.

Let's have the pavement cars try to run dirt, about the same problems, but it probably will not happen.

There are no simple answers. Everybody needs to drop the ego and work together.

Duke, you have promoted. Start a group. I'll support if possible

an argument helps nobody.
i'am too old and theres to many groups out there now! Untill people are willing to change and race one car on dirt and pavement its over for usac sprint car racing on pavement!

Guys: You are wanting to fix the wrong problem first. Are there more dirt cars than pavement? Of course, but that doesn't mean there aren't several pavement cars ready to race; that are parked because of the tire costs.

Yes it costs more money to run two cars:If you are running them at the same time. Once you have the car: Which several people do have a pavement car already; then the cost to run pavement or dirt is the same, except for the tires and testing. Fuel costs, passes, general wear and tear,entry....etc. is the same.

If we are somehow able to get the pavement cars that are parked back to the track; then they can have competitive events that will draw fans and interest promotors. Once that is established; then other measures can be evaluated.

If USAC said tomorrow that pave cars are banned and the dirt cars are the standard; it would make an impact for maybe 3 races maybe a half season, but if the tires weren't addressed, then the novelty will wear off and it will be exactly as it is today. The teams still couldn't afford it. The problem would not be fixed, just a some smoke and mirrors that masked the real problem for a little bit.

It's that simple.

I think they are listening if you see some of the press releases out there...
Not sure what that means. I think if you ask most racing teams - nothing will change.

JMO...Have a good day.

V8 -

Your post is very interesting.

How can USAC be the "best game in town" yet also wishing "it was better and less expensive"?? And, seriously, (13) years of "frustration"?

No offense, man...But, wow. And, in all sincerity...
Good luck & I hope you find what you're looking for.

I agree. But how long will the fans and promoters put up with low car counts? We only made the trip once, but my brother and I went to Winchester from TX. That would not have happened if we had expected them to have only 15 cars.

And I wish you the best of luck in your efforts. It might not do any good, but at least you can say you tried and that's better than nothing.
