I don't know if thats fair to say; I think the intentions are good. Maybe there is a specific answer they are looking for.

Who are you? You remind me of someone I know. Do you know me? In the short time I've been here, I've found this board to be full of good people that are interested in racing. However, it's unrealistic for me to expect an internet site to not have any jerks. You said that "we've been unfortunate..." however you are the only one that seems to have a problem with my posting here. Since I've been here, I haven't seen a single post by you about racing, only 3 or 4 complaining about me. Are you someone important? If so, why don't you delete my threads or ban me from posting. If not, what makes you think I care about your opinion. I am tired of your insults. I don't know if this board has an ignore feature, but feel free to ignore anything I post. It won't hurt my feelings at all.

LOOK WE ARE GETTING OFF TRACK the problem if any is the COST of the tires! and maybe the rules in witch tires we have to run. if we ALL work together and TELL the sanctioning body and or the tire manufacture that we are not paying that for a tire or taking these tire rules.

That is about the only way for something to change, BUT, good luck getting racers to 'stick together' on much of anything.

A way to get USAC's and Hoosier's attention, is for all pavement cars to show up at a race, and just have a cook out in the parking lot. Don't sign in...just sit in the parking lot. When a USAC official comes out and asks what is up, EVERYBODY needs to tell him you're not buying the overpriced POS Hoosier tires that USAC has made a deal forcing you to run, and you are tired of racing for peanuts. Then, climb in the truck, and go home.

Sure, you won't race that day, and will have spent travel time and the cost of fuel in the rig to get there....but you will save big $$ by not buying junk tires that day

Otherwise, if you guys keep racing for measly/outdated purses, and buying 2 sets of junk overpriced tires per race date, USAC and Hoosier will continue to treat you like piss ants.

Yes, getting racers to stick together is a tall order. But it can be done. As to boycotting a race, I have experience in that area. Yes, it does get their attention. And in our case it worked and I'd do it again faced with the same situation. But that is drastic action and it can backfire. Perhaps all other options have already been excercised, but in my opinion they should be looked at before considering a boycott. In the case of USAC, isn't that a club with everyone having a vote? I am guessing that many if not most of those sitting at home now are also not paid members. So the first thing might be to get everyone signed on, not an easy task.

I'm not one of those that thinks that all promoters, sanctioning bodies and suppliers are making money hand over fist. Nor do I believe that the majority of those people are just in it for the money. I'd say that most are in the racing business because like most racers they love racing. So it makes sense to me that getting those groups together with the racers to discuss common goals and problems would be worthwhile. Sure it probably seems obvious to many what those problems are, but each group sees from a different perspective.

You haven't been around USAC much, have you?

A somewhat recent happening, that proves USAC don't really care what the owners think, was the move to do away with the traditional looking Silver Crown cars that ran pavement, and go with that fugly ******** car (which was a joint screw up with NASCAR involvement) USAC figured it could ride the coat tails of NASCAR.....

Also, a few years back, Winchester Speedway dropped USAC due to their sanctioning fee policy. Winchester has run USAC sprint/midget double headers for years, and then USAC tried to get duel sanctioning fees.

Most times, USAC doesn't give a damn about the racers, or the promoters.

Until something major happens, USAC will continue to basically abuse the racers...and the racers will grumble, but continue just 'doing as they are told'.

A boycott of some races by the teams, will have fans pissed, and USAC will have to make changes. USAC should have enough leverage to get tire companies to make compounds that will last at least all day, if not several. Plus, they need to open the tire rule up to different manufactures.

USAC also needs to find a way to help guys that have dirt cars, to at least have a snowballs chance on pavement. There has to be more than just the cost of tires keeping people from running their cars on pavement.

Change has proven over & over again to be, at best, accepting the status-quo.
And, at worst, blatantly self-serving and fraught with collusion.
And, now, dangling by a thread over a huge sea of racing irrelevance...

Pretty tall order...Maybe, I'm misinformed?

well this is the perfect place to start a change their are car owners and drivers and fans on this site.I know some of this has made it back to usac or hoosier or are they that stupid and self centerd? some one please start a new thread with a better idea we have sayed all that can be said it is time for action.and only having 10 or so midgets at salem should have sent a message!!!! if not I guess it will be dirt racing only!
