Back to the subject of "WABDATH", I remember in the '70's an Indiana radio station running a contest where the second prize was a weekend, all expense payed, stay in Terre Haute.

First prize was just terrible! Can anyone remember from those days what was the 1st prize ?

Item 4.
The wife wants to put in her comment. "Everyone should keep plenty of Clabber Girl in the kitchen."

Item 5.
I think she is wise for that company does feed the racing industry since 1850.:wink

Done for now.

P.S. I don't agree with the radio station's 1st prize.

Click! The rank button....
Would the first place prize be a 1 night stay in Terre Haute?:wink

Joe you are close to the right answer but I have to give you 2nd. You were only around ten years old when this was on local radio in Indy. They wouldn't reveal what was the first place prize until the contest had ended. Everyone expected a couple grand for first place since 2nd was worth at least $500 back then. Thanks for the response.

You act like an a-hole, you get treated like an a-hole. I just don’t know why you have to talk down to everybody and be negative about everything. That’s not telling it like it is.

I’m not saying any more on this thread. You’re always going to be negative so that’s the way it is.
THANKS YOU ARE A FIRST CLASS JERK!:moon:

Which one is bub in that picture? I wonder why he didn't do the track prep...I know Mike said he was during the first couple times he talked about the track, but then I heard nothing more about it.

Well, I've been reading this thread for the last couple of days now, and it was finally time to post a few things.

I was with Duke at both Classics , and he drove the car as hard as he runs his mouth, so it got driven real hard.My dad showed Duke the bright lights and big city for the first time in his life.

It wasn't always easy working with him, but as a kid I learned a lot about racing. From building motors to grooving humpers and everything in between. As a teenager, working with my dad, it gave me memories to last a lifetime.

As for the Hut Hundred, to bad Mike didn't stick with his original plan. Sunday afternoon would have drawn more cars and drivers. He wouldn't have had to compete with the Burg or Belleville.I just wonder if it was his idea to switch to Saturday, or another one of USAC's brilliant ideas.

It seems as if when USAC wants to compete against another sactioning body, the fans lose. They need to realize they don't pull the weight they used to. It isn't 1975 anymore.

When we first started working there in April. The PA system didn't work, there were old buildings on the infield that could have collapsed at any moment, the green, yellow and red lights didn't work, the whole place needed a fresh coat of paint, and don't get me started on the track.

I in fact talked to one of the people who used to work on the track. His exact words were, I wish we had the equipment that this group has.

Track wise, the front and back stretch walls on the infield look ten times better than the old metal stuff they had and water no longer ponds on the track. The back stretch was 2 and half feet taller than the front stretch. It is all pretty much even and how it should be now.

If there are any major issues next year, then I will see about the group promoting it now.

At least it doesn't look like this anymore...... :thumb
