Charlestown...... it is the moto-cross track now . The only sprint show I remember was an All Star show and Hewitt was driving the Nichols brothers old box . He had affixed a big tail rudder on the back .
Scottsburg....... It was at the fargrounds and they ran some LM and Bomber stuff in the early 80`s . Some guy fell through the bleachers and the lawsuit stopped the racing.

What about the Eldora mile track? Never completed and never raced on, but what a sight it would have been. A banked, dirt mile. Yikes.

Another one I miss a great deal is the 1 1/8 mile Nazareth National dirt track. This was the original track built on the site of what became the 1 mile Nazareth track that closed a couple of years ago. It opened in 1965 and ran until about 1973, was reopened in 1982 as a one mile dirt, and was paved in the late eighties. A monthly modified event was held on the big track. One month it would be 88 laps or 100 miles, the next month would be 100 laps or 112 miles. Qualifying was by three 8 lap heats and 2 8 lap consies - regardless of how many cars showed up. They averaged about 165 to 170 cars which meant 55 or more cars in a heat! Will Cagle won his heat one time from 33rd spot! They would take 15 cars from each heat and five from each consy making for 55 starters in the feature. Sonny Hutchins of Richmond, VA., driving for famed car owner Junie Dunleavey, started dead last once and took the lead at the white flag only to blow the engine and slam the 1st turn wall. The Old Master, Frankie Schneider, was the big winner at Nazareth National. The best thing about racing at Nazareth National was that there was a 1/2 mile track at the bottom of the hill that ran on Sunday nights after the show at the big track. Fans could just walk to their seats and many cars simply pulled from one pit area to another. It was a fabulous way to spend a Sunday!:thumb:

I'll change this a little. 3 tracks I wish I could have seen. Langhorne, Flemington, and the Sedalia mile. Probably belongs on a new thread, sorry.
