Wow.. Kevin briscoe is a legend. Don't remember putting his name in that post at all. I do remember using words that did not specificaly call any drivers out. So keep digging to find away to say I am wrong!

Both the promoters and sanctioning bodies need to assist both the drivers and fans by working on methods to contain the costs of the racers and those that watch them race. Entry fees and pit space fees are ridicules. If the sanctioning bodies would work more on getting sponsors to get involved and promoters would work harder at getting butts in the seats and making them happy enough with the entertainment to return we would see growth instead of the shrinkage. We are facing tuff times and they ain't going to get easier in the near future. Be more than fair with the racers and they will give 100% and to a good degree so will the fan.
I agree with Kevin, they're putting on the show lets try to keep more of them around. Even without the big trailers the cost to race has escalated tremendously but the purses are much the same. |

I did not take your post personally as attacking me. I agree with your post hard work and desire count for a ton in this sport. But I bet if you ask the Santos's that they would have the same stand as I do on the original topic. When they bust their butt to get there and spend their hard earned money. They probably expect something in return for putting on the show when they have their bad nights. Like I said earlier I believe that all teams have the same stance on this issue. I just am willing to stand up for it. I would say the Hoffmans, Stewart and Kahne teams would love for this to change. I believe Don Short believes that he should be rewared for participation. I hate that this post has got out of hand because alot of good people are arguing with each other over the haves and have nots this is not purpose of this post. I respect all. If we were all sitting in a room talking about this none of us would be upset. We all could have said the same things but words and tone of voice come of different than typed words. I know Don Short personnally and I know what he said came off wrong to some people, I understood because of know him. I know he doesnt look down on people at all. He is one of kindest hearted people you could meet. Craig is a great guy also and races on a shoestring. So reading the post it aggravated him. I guarantee face to face those two stating there opinions this would have came off different. Both posts are just getting read wrong. The same way this post getting out of hand. When people read the original post they automatically think I am complaining about not competing. That is way off I am just upset about the entry fee and no purse money on a bad night. Hope we all work this out I know I have no ill feelings toward anyone. I try to read each post with an open mind and put myself in their shoes. tx again |

kevin......i do wish every one could get paid 3 times what we do..top to bottom........i sponsored the kiss series last year and gave 9000.00 so that everyone in the b main could get paid 100.00 and sponsored it again this year..... our team also went to the first usac race this year and walked away with no money as we did not make the show.....but i knew the format going in and accepted the gamble.....we are not a big dollar team as some elude to and i know you are aware of this...we would like to race midgets, silver crown etc. but not in the budget....so we race within our means to be competative....................................... .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .. craig. i do not drive a cadillac nor do i vacation to australia and dont play the 100.00 slots.........and i do not think less of those who do...if i can i will help out those that have less or more...i dont think the world owes any of us anything... some work harder some are just more fortunate and bless them all as short racing will just race within our means....... i am sorry if you took my post wrong but meant no disrespect to anyone... don short

to get started in racing i worked three jobs, saved for two years and spent no extra money for that time period. i hate it when something happens and for some reason you cant run the b or you get crashed in the heat and you have to leave the track with no compenstaion. but it has happened to me a couple of times. the good thing is that all but one time it was with mscs. i still got my $100 tow money. at most local tracks if you dont start the b you get nothing. i have never understood that.....but with all that said. there is no reason that i as a racer should put my expensive equipment on the track that i worked my ass off dont you think that i deserve at least the courtesy of getting my pit pass money back at the least. kevin i support you 100% on this issue. craig hit the nail on the head about the "better than you" tone of short's post. it may have been taken out of context, but the way it reads just says "Im better than you and I know it." there are a lot of teams with not a ton of money who are kicking ass every week. Fox brothers and stand-on-it bro! come to mind.

From those of us that Don Short has extended a helping hand ; THANKS ! ..... Next time you are at Bloomington listen closely for all the racers that have Indiana Stoneworks or Short Trucking posted as an associate sponsor .
