You are talking about the Greenville (Ohio) Motor Speedway. In the satelite image below you can see the current 1/2 mile fairgrounds horse track at the top center of the picture. Most people think that this was the old Greenville Motor Speedway. That is wrong. Other than some AMA motorcycle races, no motor racing has ever been held on that track.
If you look straight down to the bottom center of the picture you will see a dark green circular shape. That was the real Greenville Motor Speedway. The track was abandoned in the early 50s but never developed into anything else. This is as the track lays today.

By the way, mister indyracefan, that gigantic picture in all of your post is really quite annoying.

I tried to find the track in question a few years ago when I was at Eldora for the 4-Crown. That year it was quite rainy in the area. I found what I thought was the entrance to the track, but from the satilite photo I see it was the entrance to the old drive in theater directly to the north of the track. The area just off turn one that appears to be a semi-truck parking lot is a mobile home park. It's obvious from this photo that this is the way to gain access to the old track. If anyone is going ivestigate this place, I would recomend doing it in the fall or winter, it looks like it greens up to point that it would be impossible recognize any part of the track once the flora and fauna get going.

It was a pretty famous track in its day. CSRA ran there quite a bit.

The drive in theatre was built on what was the parking lot of the race track. The theatre was actually called the Speedway DriveIn.
The wood lattice grandstand was still standing up into the early 70s when it was finally torn down.

It`s on US 150 between Floyd`s Knob`s ( where Dick Gaines used to own a motel ) and Palmyra In. ( home of Troy and Ember Link. ) I may be mistaken but I think Charlie Glotzbach may even have a Greenville In. address. I know the latter was pretty much a fendered classic but the first three guys have some open wheel heritage.

Just something Dad and I were chatting about while traversing through Greenville on our way to Louisville today.

Here is a photo of Wally Stokes at the old Greenville Speedway. Their were actually two Greenville Speedways. The remnants of the one today is the second one. The first one was the old fairgrounds track that ran back in th '20s and '30s.
