Wow, TQ! I would do anything I could to pry that film out of that camera and develop it!!! Don't throw it away!

Dirtball,

The book I have is "Eddie called Me Boss" by Dick Sommers and I don't believe it mentioned Eddie being married to Gordon Reid's widow, but I know I read that somewhere.

I am an Indy native and you have about ten years on me, but I don't ever remember hearing of a high bank pavement joint in Indy - enlighten me.

Allan, it had to be in the late 50's, I want to say it was called the Speedrome, it may have been the old 16th st track, about all they ran were midgets, and, even tho I was probably too young, I mighta had a beer or 6, before we got there, just made the banking look higher! I'm sure it was the first paved track I'd been to. Bob

Thanks for the comeback.

I went to afew jalopy races at 16 th Street speedway as a kid and have been to the Speedrome numerious time and both of them have the same amount of banking as the average pool table. Was just curious if there was a track in the Indy area that I was unaware of.

I know what you mean about the beer, it did seem to be better before I turned 21.

It musta been the 16th st track, cause I've been to the Speedrome, sober, or at least somewhat. The Sportsdrome at Jeffersonville looks flat, but it has some banking, I've raced there a time or two. The only beer we were able to obtain, was 3.2, Carling's Black Label, from the AirBase, gives me a headache to even think about it, always made me wonder, did we care that little, about the troops, course, maybe that kept consumption down! 16th street was banked, maybe not as much as Anderson (Sun Valley) but banked. Speedrome is mostly flat.

Eddie Sachs III is my cousin through marriage. His mother was remarried to Don Gerlach after his dad passed away. She passed away a few years back. I grew up knowing Eddie and attended races at Mount Clemens Track when he raced back in the late 70's and early 80's. I have not talked to him in about 4 years.

Didn't Eddie Jr. race some midgets in Indy about 20 years ago?
