"..And the most visible part of NASCAR, the driver corps, has morphed from a crew of heroic-yet-relatable, older, mostly mustachioed hell-raisers to an interchangeable posse of corporate-ready drones fresh out of driver's ed."
That quote almost mirrors what's going on in sprint car racing in Indiana with the exception being, that the "Drones" haven't been old enough to take drivers ed in school yet.

Isn't he just sharing his viewpoint like we are. The internet has provided the world a place to vent our frustrations and opinions.(Many of which when written out don't seem nearly as important or witty as they seemed in our minds just moments before.)
NASCAR is going to have some tough days, but it will survive. It too is suffering from a major constriction after a large expansion.
How is it the American companies and NASCAR are the ones that look like they are behind the times, but somehow Toyota is the smart one even though they are competing right along side the Dinosaurs of Detroit.
What these people never get is that all of life is in someways wasteful in the fact that ALL of us use some sort of natural resource everyday. It's this whole embarressment of riches mentality where we are suppossed to feel guilty about every little thing.
In the mean time, the people doing the propaganda to make us feel bad just happen to own the "solutions" to the problem and oddly enough it involves Them using YOUR money in a way that you can wash you of your filthy guilt. This is no different than Snake Oil salesmen or the confidence man and three card monty.
In my opinion, when they can prove that coal furnaces and cars caused the ice sheets to melt and the end of the ice age, then I will begin to believe in global warming as a man made and a man fixable problem. Mother nature can and does more harm than all of us combined when we have volcanic eruptions. Unfortunately for them, they will never be able to prevent Real natual disasters.
I am all for cleaner emissions, but where do they think those little plugs in their garages are connected to? That and just wait til we have millions of hydrogen cars in an area such as California. The effects on the weather will be profound.

Well, sorry to say America or the Rest of the World will never stop using thier engines. They will use smaller ones, be more fuel efficient and waste less.
We are not stupid...now!...lol are we????!
1) Opec or the ARAB nations will never let gas get so expensive so that we
"Americans" or the other super powers, like China and Japan will stop using it.
2) If people think they want electric cars the Arabs will just lower the price so
that gas engines are still feasible and reasonable.
I can tell Robert Weintraub is not into motor sports. He's one of those people
who make a living writing articles and he's trying to feed off Nascar and the fuel
crunch and economic recession with little success.
Do you think we Americans are dumb?....lol! We can see right through his line
of B.S./trivia, non-factual statements and horsesh....it!...lol!
Personally I can see a little to a lot of recession in the future. But as long
as NASCAR is on TV,we will watch it. You could put on the stupidess
or the smartess TV show on TV and Americans will watch it and love it.
Let's face it we are all shaped by TV and when you stop watching it that's
when the advertisers and the sellers will be in big trouble.
The key is to give everybody a TV and make sure it's free and make sure
every American has a "converter" box when they go to digital on Feb 19th.
Let's face it Americans have been brain washed for years through the TV.
And only when American's stop watching it will they be free to make rational
decisions and better thier lives as well the Worlds.
Sincerely,
Larry Otani and burn those TV's...lol!:applaud:

What the hell is the matter with people. I believe this global warming crap is just that...CRAP. I know alot of people do but they ignore any other argument. Their are another group of scientist who say we are moving toward a mini ice age. Do you hear this on the news? Of course not!!!! People have invested millions of dollars in to "man made global warming" so they have to push their agenda on us. I dont want an electric car. Or a wind mill on my house. I do believe the big three are in bed with the oil companies though. Nasa sent someone to the moon almost 40 years ago and they cant produce a vehicle that gets more than 40 miles to the gallon come on. I am afraid its inevideble we will be forced to live green and the thought makes me cringe. If you want my opinion this winter is God playing a joke on us all...he wants us to take a hard look to what we are doing. He ultimately makes all the decisions...if he wants it hot its gonna be hot. In todays world some people would think I'm crazy for thinking God has anything to do with our climate but thats what I think. Sorry for the rant but I cant stand someone forcing me to live the way I do not want to live.

Sprint 39,
Did you ever hear of Noah's Ark? Well the people who got on the boat lived
and the rest died.
Contrary to belief you are not on or in this world for your own enjoyment.
You're in it for God's.
So in a way you either play his game or you don't play at all. Get it?
Not trying to be mean, but in general I think the World knows we are in
big trouble and "in a way" I think we will all work to solve it.
All you can do is to do the best you can and in the mean time it mean
use what you need and save what you can and don't be wasteful.
Forget about all the naysayers, but in general we all know we have been
doin' wrong for a long time.
There's still time. God is patient to a point, then he get's pi_______ssed...lol!
Sincerely,
Larry Otani:moon:

All through history the earth has heated up and cooled off. The problem is ,that now some people are arrogant enough to think they can change it. They are also arrogant enough to believe we also caused it.
We didn't make the sun , and we can't control it.We are just going to have to do what are forefathers did, learn to adapt. They who can't, too bad.Self reliance is great in a situation like that , unfortunately a lot of people aren't. Those are the ones who will suffer. The government can't control your life, unless you let them. In this situation though, it won't work. People you will be on your own.

Before TV it was the radio, before the radio; the paper, before the paper; the cave wall, etc..
All people, not just Americans, all people have looked to some sort of medium for their information. Any information received from an outside force is in some way manipulated and the only people who hold the truth are the ones who have either lived it or witnessed it firsthand, but even the witness doesn't have all of the information.
Religion is an example of that in the fact in exists in many many forms all of which feel that their teachings are the one and only truth. Which one is right; that is for each person to decide.
During the 70's there was the belief that we were heading for a period of global cooling and that the polar ice caps needed to be melted. Then we went to global warming. Global warming was for a short period reversed in the early 90's due to a volcanic eruption and the resulting ash reflected the suns rays away from the earth.
It's always the same things. Today was the hottest day on record since (blank). This has been the hottest year on record since(Blank). The problem is, when you fill in the blank it is usually a period of time like the 20's or 30's or the 1800's. Considering that we have only been keeping recorded wheather records for a very brief period of recorded history, I think saying things like "all time record" is pretty empty as we really don't know that to be sure and so what if it is. In 2100 will it matter that the heat/cold temp. on a particular day was higher or lower than in 2008? It will matter as much then as it does to you now. Very little.
Manipulators have always used the latest technologies coupled with a extreme understanding of what motivates people at their most basic level(Money, kids, fear of the unknown, etc. etc.) They always know whats best for you and for some reason it always involves just a small amount of your money and it will be alright. Right now with the advent of the internet; we are deluged with information much of which is useless or wrong and often pointless.
People can now put out a press release with manipulated numbers and it will appeal to the fears of a certain group of people. I saw one the other day that said men where an endangered species because the chemicals in the air are causing the feminization of the male genitalia. I even heard it on a nightly news.
One reason you always see those on Yahoo is because many of the people behind Yahoo are members of the green movement and they use the Yahoo page as a way to get their message out.
Look through the want ads and you will see jobs for people to be activists. Paid activism. (I am not so sure I believe in that. How much are you going to pay me? Your right, I have always been against that.) That is just as bad as companies not doing the right thing because it affect their bottom line.
Do I believe that we should be wasteful and pollute; absolutely not. It has to be an on going process though and it has to be a process that learns how to wisely use the resources we have. Just saying that we are going to quit using coal and oil and then we will somehow impliment new fuels without any type of expanded testing is rediculous. I don't mind the idea of natual gas, battery or hydrogen cars, but there are new challenges to dealing with them.
Is the world the cleanest it has ever been? No. It can't be because people need things to survive and thrive. Those things require things like energy and transportation to deliver them. Have we come along way. I believe so. As modern society advances, we have learned to better work with the earth. We are just now learning how the earth works, so it takes time.
How many people on here remember when we where kids and how the Rain Forest was going to be completely gone by now and that civilization would not survive because we would have no way to clean our air for the oxygen? It's still there and they have gotten much better at using it. At the same time we have lessened our need for paper.
For anyone who thinks that living using the most basic means is the way life should be, go to Africa and suffer with those people for awhile and then tell me how bad you have it. If Al Gore cares so much, why doesn't he go over and change those peoples lives with his power and money instead of staging a concert series to save the world and raise awareness while using more carbon based fuels in one day flying around and transporting equipment than all of us on here combined for a lifetime. Same for U2. If they really care, go acoustic and have shows in the park with all proceeds going to the poor. Of course it's hard to afford the clothes, planes, houses and cars that way.
Doesn't anyone else find it ironic that Tipper Gore and Al fought so hard for music labeling for ****** and violent content, but Al Gore takes so much credit for paving the way for the largest, most lawless and most convenient portal for sex and violence that there has ever been? Bringing it right to your house or phone without even looking for it.
