It is supposed to be nose to tail at the cone as well. But there was a car at Perris that was consistantly out of line and nothing was ever done. After I thought about it, the rule is if you pass a car anywhere in the next lap. It happened during sprint week, where a car was not nose to tail, attempted a pass in turn 1. He did not complete the pass, but messed up the others guy line enough that the pass was completed in turn 3 and 4. So it is very possible to not make the pass in 1 and 2 but still have an advantage in 3 and 4. And if that is the rule, then an official that sees a jump, needs to follow that car the entire lap. Pretty simple to do that.

Well then, it appears to me that there's entirely to much gray area in the rule. How about this then....If you aren't nose to tail (and stay there) until after you pass the cone, you go to the tail. No ifs ands or buts.

Dang....maybe I should apply for an official position somewhere?!?!?! :redflag:

Again both officials saw it and agreed but didnt do anything. I figured they didnt want to make an issue out of it since it was the #9 last race and have supported USAC with their cars. When you are listening to the radio and both officials agreed he jumped and then nothing is done, this is where you get fans, car owners, drivers, etc complaining about the officiating. I think the officials also brought it up in the pit meeting about jumping and being penalized for it. They need Evelyn to inforce the penalities and I'm sure the driver/car owner wouldnt complain with her inforcing it. :rolling:rolling:rolling she means business when she speaks! :angry-smiley-007:

Coondog: how come you didnt race?
