As an actual driver from Mini-Indy, I had some of my best memories coming from the past years' States Races. It's a shame that it looks like it may not happen this year as a result from the QMA/USAC issue. Hopefully something can be worked out, as I know all drivers combined from Mini-Indy and Kokomo like getting the extra competition a few times a year. Maybe an actual opinion from a kid will make you all remember that this is what its all supposed to be about. Having fun and spending time with family and friends doing something we all love to do. I actually met a really special friend of mine at Kokomo this year, during the states races. We ended up becomeing great friends and traveling together to other tracks for races towards the end of the year.

Sagerace,
I am glad this is over and we can get to racing. But was the anger at the meeting against the other orginization or the board. It will be sad when some of the best racers in the country will not be able to win Gasoline Alley in there own backyard.
I just hope the kids will understand why they cant go.

Why can't they go? Anybody can go. You can go up to Kokomo sign up for USAC and help their club in the process. What about the USAC kids and the Grands. They can sign up for QMA somewhere. It works both ways. I think people voted on what they thought would be best for the CLUB. Financially and for the small children starting off as novices. Teaching two sets of rules at one track etc. Maybe some people had other intentions? You can sit and argue facts all day. Everyone will look at things differently. That is why we vote. My family didn't ask for this split. As a family you can decide what your racing path will be. I think things will work out in the end. We vote every year. If things need to change the club gets to vote on that again next year.

Forgive my ignorance, but I am assuming that instead of the Alley Nationals being an JSCA event it is now becoming a USAC event.
In turn; only USAC members will be able to compete? That doesn't seem like a very sensible situation since there are many areas not under USAC's sanction and in no other USAC division do they not have some sort of allowence(Save for Silver Crown, I am told) for outside competitors to compete.
I can't see them strong-arming people to the point that they will not be able to compete. Now; I am sure you will have to get some sort of Temp. Permit or what have you, but not letting someone compete; I find that hard to believe.
Besides, that would be a good chance for USAC to build good will amongst the .25 community(Really; do they have to be called that? Makes me think of the caliber of a gun or something) and prove skeptics such as myself completely wrong.
Like I told Jason and James, I want to be wrong. Prove me wrong. Show me why my thinking is completely wrong. Show me that you are wanting to provide a place for kids to race and learn how to race properly instead of it being a cash grab for USAC and Hoosier. The term "Career Ladder" and the age groups 5-15 just don't gel together well for me.
USAC should want to be apart of the quarter midgets and it is a good fit, but it is only a good fit if it is done for the right reasons. Selling memberships and tires I would hope would be only a small part of the reasons for doing so.
I encourage anyone who wants to join USAC to do so, because even for me it is something that I look at as something that I am proud of that I was able to be listed as a USAC car owner, but just don't do it blind.

AMEN!!! It is all about the kids hopefully that does not get forgetten in this entire situation. Quarter midgets were some of the best days ever getting to meet all the different people and making friendships and such it was an awesome experience and hopefully that will still be the case for years to come.

I must like dirty restrooms and weeds. If you have to ask, you must not know me. One has nothing to do with the other.
I just hate to see USAC not take care of what has made them for over 50 years.

Well darnit, I just bought my son a 1/4 midget to start his racing career. I raced at Big Z with Robbie Stanley, Steve Reeves, Jeff Gordon, along with alot of other great people. My family was looking forward to going to the races and seeing friends like the Hoffman's. Now it looks like my son is going to learn the racing game warts and all. Is there any place left on this racing earth that isn't consuming itself right now. Maybe, I hope so.
