As I understand it....the Knoxville Nationals is not a WoO event, so they wouldn't cover it, and none of the other insurance covers the cost for moving him by air ambulance. Now is the time for all of the tracks where Jeff has raced to pass the helmets.

A Former USACer I know suffered a serious accident at Kansas in the early 90s and even USACs insurance wouldn't cover the chopper bill.

Chuck, wishing Jeff all the best.

there has been and will continue to be "donation buckets" at the entrance gates at the central pa. speedways as well as drivers going thru the stands this weekend and buckets at some of the t-shirt sales tables.
word is that its around 17K to fly jeff back to MD via helicopter.

The request for assistance said it had to be an air ambulance aircraft (probably a jet or turboprop rather than helo, given the distance). The request specifically said it couldn't be a private aircraft (probably need specially equipped & staffed for critical care). $17K needed. Not covered by insurance.
The latest releases were very encouraging, but it's obviosly still a very delicate evolution.
I hope to kick in at both the Grove & Lincoln this weekend.

Let's hear it for American healthcare! Makes you want to move to Canada. Or New Zealand, don't they have the free healthcare deal also? Wait a minute, they've got sprint and midget racing too... Hmmm.
