I saw fisrt hand the 18 wheler you speak of Don. What a joke. I am glad they had the copier there. It helped copy a race day schedule that was not followed at all.

No temporary permits to run the Silver Crown series? Another bone head move from the USSAC (United Soviet Socialist Auto Club). No wonder USAC changed there logo to put a little more red into it.

Anyone know if the PA announcer was fined for mentioning the POWRi race the night before at Macon?

The Silver crown series suffered when the decision to change cars was made. If it is bad now, what would it been like if Jason and Jason didn't keep the cars running with the PRA.

What did they get before... 50 cars?? If you shoot yourself in the foot, it takes some time to heal. Eventually, the car counts will come back.

Don Moore is right about the cost, we had to pay $500 to register the car, $400 to register the driver, $120 for the entry fee, and $30 per pit pass. Not to mention the exotic engine prices, $4 a gal fuel( it cost over $250 just to fill up for the feature!), $120 approx. per tire...It is terribly expensive for what, 5-6 dirt races...and they can't even reschedule their biggest race (the Hoosier Hundred)...I definitely think USAC could be a little more ''car owner" friendly and allow temp. permits...I think you would see the car counts rise. I also wanted to comment about the promoting side. Bob Seargent and his group need to improve some things for sure. It needs to start with track prep...boring races means less fans. Regardless of what Bill Carey says, you can have a cushion at a day race, as long as you prepare the track right! Its simple, allow temp permits, prepare the track right and promote the thing as much as you do the ARCA and AMA bike races and the fans will flock to see it. If I was USAC I would be a little embarrased that they cant supply a full field for any of their Silver Crown shows...just some thoughts, like I said in our post, we are honored to be racing in this series, we can't wait to see it get better!!!

From what I heard, the track was so good in practice that guys weren't lifting. Wasn't the front row comprised of the car that went out first and a car that went out close to last?

Anyone that knows me knows that I am very critical of USAC and promotors, but I don't blame USAC for not allowing T.P'S for the cars. Why would they let you run 5-6 races a year on a T.P? I know it's expensive, but the Silver Crown division isn't supposed to be for a team that wants to run 1-2 times a year.
Maybe for a driver(1 race), but not for the cars.

As far as Bob goes, I think they do a good job at promoting and it's hard to prep a track of that size. It's not easy to have a track in the daytime that is smooth with a ledge you can run with the width of the tires on todays cars. You get to big a cushion, then you have a race with red flags and that too makes for a boring race.

Today is a different day and without educating todays casual/first time fan, it is hard to get them to come out. No matter how much TV and radio, they have to get them intimately involved somehow.

I agree that not finding a replacement date for the Hoosier 100 is embarressing considering that there used to be 2 races a year at the Indy Mile.

I know how expensive it is to run a Silver Crown car and I do appreciate that body style. The cars we ran in the 90's had that body, except we used the open hood and round cowl with windshield.

I stood on entry to turn one for all hot lap sessions.

The throttle was being manipulated, and speed was being used up in a broadslide.

I am only relating what I was told, but Hollingsworth said he was not lifting in hot laps. Other observers said that other front runners in hot laps such as Darland weren't lifting. Dave and Levi ran 28 sec laps. 28.7and 28.9 respectively. That is hauling a$$.

I would say that it wasn't so much throttle lift with some of the cars, but the motor lugging after the wheels dug in.
