We spent the last 4 nights a Volusia Speedway Park watching the WoO sprint cars and Dirtcar/UMP Modifieds. We will be back Monday and Tuesday for the USAC races before moving to Ocala to finish off the week with USAC. During our time at Volusia we saw Brian Carter CEO/CFO of World Racing Group numerous times, in the pits, walking in the Midway/Vendor sales area, walking the stands, running the tractor cleaning the guardrail, greeting fans at the entrance, etc. He engaged fans with questions, asked for comments, and was present and visible.

I wonder if we will see the new CEO of USAC doing anything similar at the USAC races in Florida this week? Yeah….sure we will!

I agree that you won’t, but give it a chance. If he is the slightest like Miller was, you can guarantee to be lied to. Getting on a tractor to clean guardrails would imply you know what dirt racing is. Miller didn’t and I’ll reserve judgement that an NHRA guy does. It’s been explained to me on this board that Miller and company were advancing other elements and circle track was not one of them. I’ve stopped hoping for this group to improve and have been told by loyalists to accept Usac for what it is. That’s a shame as it’s still the best on track product out there but never gets the accolade. Wishing the teams well as they pursue yet another underpaid journey.

I know the supposed story behind Miller and what his alleged marching orders were. With that said, I believe that it only makes sense to see and hear what your customers think of your product in person. I also think you need to hear from your “employees”. Now, I know the racers and teams are not “employees”, but w/o their support, you don’t have a business. Don’t mistake my comments for thinking I’m against USAC and for WoO….I’m for both! I just find the approach of the USAC leadership vs. that of World Racing Group and CEO Brian Carter to be disappointing. WRG had HUGE crowds Friday and Saturday night at Volusia, and a darn good crowd on Wednesday. There were over 110 DirtCar/UMP Modifieds in attendance and 42 410 winged sprint cars on the grounds all three nights. I will be surprised if Volusia is 50% full of spectators Monday or Tuesday evening for USAC and DirtCar Late models.
