If USAC was really serious about pavement SC making a go of it there should have been a concerted effort to get on the schedule with Indycar at Milwaukee, Iowa, and St Louis. When you only get a car count in the teens for a race event, it no longer looks like a headline class. Better to take some dates as a support class and at least get some exposure. Also, since the engine for these cars is basically an open 360, why not choose a crate motor with a similar HP as an option and at least make the engine costs affordable for the pavement series. Combine that with some limits on shocks and tires and you could easily bring back some teams that have cars right now, but just don't have the funds to race with the current rule package.

I couldn't agree more. Silver Crown ran Milwaukee a couple years back in the late '80s. Both times produced excellent racing. Wouldn't hurt Indycar to add Silver Crown to their Saturday program either.

My perception of most of the Silver Crown teams is that they don’t have the sponsorships, spares, nor budget to race 3 nights in a row.

You can usually count on 25% of the field dropping out for mechanical issues. Look at the entries for this weekend they are starting the day with 40 cars. By the time qualifying is over that number will be closer to 30. It may be low enough that they decide to dump the qualifying race. At the end of the race I would expect to see about 15 cars running. This is not a series with a long term outlook.The tracks that they put on a good show at are all gone except for a couple.
