Happy Independence Day America next week!! We are a year away from the Macon debacle. Bacon has left to suck at wing racing and comes back to Usac with decent success. Of course no one knows if he is legal. Spridge still has a job but when his boss hangs his hat on changing the old office into a dance floor I guess quality is not what Usac is about. On this board Usac posts nothing and hides. The ultimate two defenders of the shield are relatively quiet. Funk is MIA and 55 does his best to protect. I live out East and the level of teams who travelled here was good but small. Non Wing racing is not what everyone knows so Usac needs to promote the product in a way to get noticed. This all has to do with promotion from Speedway Indiana. Saturday nite at Port Royal the sprint cars and worse SC didn’t have large fields. The sprint cars ran for 6g at Port while there was a 250g and a 100g race to win for sprint cars in other parts of the country. This is totally a disaster out of Speedway. They had 4 paid people on the broadcast yet only paid 6g to win. It can still be the best on track racing in the country but it’s clear due to tons of pork up top and no promotion no one knows what they are missing.
I stood in the drivers meeting at WG and thought to my self a 10th grader could have run what I witnessed. The same sheet of procedure for years and the guy reading it looked like it was his first time and we know it’s not.
I’m not a favorite on this board I know. It pains me to watch this inept group continue to lead the decline of real sprint car racing. I’ll travel next week to Kokomo and LPS in hopes of quality track prep and great racing. I still continue to wish there was a group in charge that had the vigor to promote for bigger and better events to get these teams the money they deserve.
I was at the Fremont show and car count was about what I expected. They had more than a full field so I was ok with it. Ohio has zero non-wing tracks, and I believe the local Indiana tracks had shows. Usac usually struggles outside of their main area, so I'm curious what you expected for car count.
Excellent post YeleyFan76!! I always love how you speak your mind!! And you are one of my favorites on here!! I wish somehow I could meet you at Kokomo tonight bc I would most certainly shake your hand and buy a beverage of your choice!! Same with you Flagboy55!!
My favorite race of the year is tonight!!!! With Smackdown being a very close 2nd lol!! Tonight and tomorrow, myself, my family, and my friends celebrate my late father's life who worked the backstretch gate at Kokomo through the 80s and early 90s.
On July 3, 2021 I had finished my work for the day and went out to my dad's farm to help him and my kid finish shaving, trimming, and grooming her goats to get ready to take them to our 4H Fair the next weekend for her 7th year of 4H. As I got there my dad acted like he was 40 years old and didnt have a disease that was taking his life from him. Acted like he was in the best shape of his life!! He told me to get the **** off of his farm, that him and my kid had it under control and to get to the races and enjoy my life that he felt great and would see me tomorrow...all my kid could do was bust out laughing and say hey bro, papaw said get the **** off the farm and get to the races bc we got this...little did her or I know the next day she would have heart, soul, and backbone ripped out and away from her...when tomorrow rolled around, that would be the last time I ever seen him alive and he was taking his last breath!!
So the July 3rd fireworks race at Kokomo has since been a staple to me, my family, and my friends to celebrate my dad's life in a good happy positive way knowing every July 4th is tough for us!! We have been pumped up for this race for a while!! Its all we have talked about since Montpelier Saturday!!
Awesome show coming up tonight with Sprints, UMP Mods, and Thunder Cars...normally one of the best fireworks displays in this part of the state!! Hopefully its a packed house for the O'Connor Family and the Teams and Drivers!!
Yeleyfan76 and Flagboy55 we will be on the backstretch, back row, grilling out, celebrating my dad's life if you want to come by and introduce yourselves!! Safe travels to all!! Happy Independence Day tomorrow!!
Enjoy the evening at Kokomo. I read this late or would have walked back there. We will be out for Smackdown as always. I’ll contact you closer to the event to try and meet. Happy Independence Day!

Was the "Macon debacle" the tech / weight issue?
Please explain the "dance floor" deal.
I suppose it goes back to if the sanction body is the promotion effort or if they expect the tracks to promote the product.
Every time I mentioned missing their posts on here (coming up on about a year now...) it gets explained to me like there is no other way to have it shared on here (unless I wana do it myself) and there is no time for it to be done another way...
Does anyone think maybe USAC will almost have to run winged sprints again someday maybe (they ran them some in the 80s)? Perhaps too late for that though...with High Limit and POWRi coming in with those...
Anyone can go to this website to get all the information they want about USAC and it’s very easy to post a link. Not sure why USAC information isn’t routinely posted here but it is pretty easy find on the interweb.
