One of them type tracks if you send it and survive. It pays off big.

I really wish more Usac a mains had guys finish up front after passing cars from the mid pack or further.

For a guy that qualified 27th, Robert WAS the show! Had to start 4th row in his heat. Bravely took that #12 to the top side and rocketed off turn 2, passing everyone. Started 9th in the feature and no problem, let's hit the treacherous turn 1 high said again. BLU - worth the price of admission!

76, you’re right. Would be great to see more fast guys start deep. However, it’s unlikely that will ever happen. As I’ve always said racers are a self serving bunch, and the big teams have the loudest voices. I would bet you a Floyd’s Deluxe that USAC management has already heard some racer’s suggest that the invert should be lessened or perhaps dropped altogether. I can guarantee you this, no fan that actually wants to be entertained has ever asked for a straight up start. Once in a while you get the obligatory “hope to put on a show for the fans “ but they really don’t care what show they put on as long as we buy a ticket and a tee shirt. If they truly cared about putting on a show, they’d hire you to figure out the format

One of the best winged sprint car races I saw last year (on FLO) was the Eldora Kings Royal week Wed night High Limit race. I'm 99% sure they spun a 7 on their wheel, inverting the top 7 for each heat. Just remember watching the winged guys have to fight their way to the front. Insane passing. I want to go over to that race this year. But just my luck they'd spin a 1 or a 2, eliminating all the intense passing to get to the front.

Knoxville Nationals do an 8 invert for the heats on the prelim nights. Makes for some excitement & a few big guys going to the b main or worse. It was a full invert of 10 for a long number of years. Depth of quality equipment makes 10 really hard to pull off these days. Years ago a guy like Kinser would start 10th & have the lead by lap 2 as there was so much disparity in equipment.
