Hello people. Newbie to this forum, just signed up!
I'm planning on following the USAC Indiana Sprint Week for the 1st time ever! I have Hotels booked (all on the Sprint Car trail) for every night already, got track addresses saved in my Google Maps, so I think I'm ready to go! Now, question for all you regulars that follow this every year, what do you guys do on the off nights? In 2025, it's Monday & Tuesday, (7/28-7/29). Are there other tracks fairly close (within 2 hours) that are racing those nights? ...Is it County Fair season? ...maybe Demo Derbies? Is there anything "to do" in the Indianapolis area during the day on ANY of the days (tourist stuff)? I have a hard time sitting around doing nothing. I even went and looked to see how far Niagara Falls was.... ugh, way too far!
Please reply with some suggestions, if there are any...LOL. And I hope to meet a bunch of new racing friends during my 10-day trip to Indiana!!
Thanks, John L.

It's a little trip. But The National Museum of the Air Force at Wright Patterson in Dayton Ohio I've mentioned to others and they loved it. You can spend a whole day in there. Nothing compares except maybe Smithsonian. and it's FREE.

It’s too soon as the website hasn’t uploaded any schedules for 2025 yet, but as it gets closer you can check this website and it’ll give you dirt tracks racing within a couple of hundred miles of any location you put in. Depending on how far you want to drive there might be some random late model races going on those two off nights.

As someone else said, if open, the Indy Speedway museum is a must.

Also, you have stated that you have hotel rooms booked all through the state. One lesson learned from when I have chased a tour is to have as many rooms booked in the same hotel as possible, even if it means some more driving before/after an event. When you go from room to room, you have to get up get packed and out of the room by 11. However, you cannot check into the next room until 3. Finding something to do with the 4 hours in between can sometimes be a pain, especially when all you really want to do is to take a nap. Besides the wasted time of packing up and unpacking every day, you have to waste time checking into each motel.

For your off days, you may want to look to see if there is any professional baseball in the area. I know that a lot of drivers and TV guys go watch baseball on the days off.

I will agree, the Air Force museum in Dayton is amazing. Well worth the trip.

As for racing…

Monday, 7/28: The Sprint Invaders Winged 360 group has a show in Bloomfield, Iowa, six hours from Indy. I know that’s far outside your two-hour window. As for late models, the World of Outlaws series has a show in Wilmot WI. That’s only four hours from Indy.

Tuesday, 7/29: Paragon Speedway posted their 2025 schedule on Facebook a few weeks ago. They have a $10,000 to win non-wing 410 race on their calendar this night.

You might want to checkout the TQ Midget racing close by that time period, if you can fit them in, they usually put on a good show, and it's Dirt Midget Racing that you don't see every day, just sayin! Their schedule is on this site.

Wow, thanks for the suggestions! Got 'em wrote down and will check them all out online first! ...and no Jonr, I don't have a different hotel every night, I did group some nights together just for that exact reason you mentioned. I'm just going to have to be patient and wait for the event to get closer. I appreciate everyone's helpful comments!

Dallara Indy Car factory in Speedway. Indianapolis Zoo. Indianapolis Museum of Art.
Most of your NHRA teams are based in Brownsburg. Tons of Indycar team shops around town. Arizona Sport Shirt on Gasoline Alley. The Slippery Noodle downtown for live blues. Some great indoor kart facilities. Plenty to see and do!
