Nascar and Indycar have lately been starting races at 3-4-5pm. Sometimes this isn't a big deal, BUT WHY IN THE HELL WOULD YOU DO IT AT TRACKS that don't have lighting. Every little shower will take over a hour to dry the track. Next thing you know it's 8pm and half the track is in deep shadow and another half hour it's dark.

What happened to the noon-1pm start with plenty of chance to finish the show?

IDK, seems stupid to me, NFL can draw a crowd for 1pm games, why not racing?

The Xfinity race is on Fox right now...it came on at 1pm (eastern) and the start time said 1:30...(eastern...) - to me its all noon tho (cst...lol)

PS - Larson is running 2nd right now

Many throw back paint schemes this wknd in NASCAR...including Chase Briscoe's Cup car version of Tony's Turkey Night Lewis car winner...

I'm just gona enjoy it as I can.

I'll be working at the local track tonight...everything is in motion for it to not be here next year...races start at 7:07 tonight! (All stock cars tho)

This has to do with tv contracts as well as viewership, having fans get to track early as possible adds to bottom dollar with concessions and souvenirs. these clowns running
napcar think they can compete with football and stick & ball sports, running
races during prime time on a Saturday nights is all about trying to grow sport,
these gimmicks along with competition yellows hasn’t really helped that much mop.

The indycar race (& some NASCAR ones too) can run in the rain too...all of them that are not on ovals...which is most of them...

Cup qualifying came on early...there was racing on regular available TV all day and then over at 5/6 with time to go to short track...

I'd just take it in as you can...lot of people don't watch as they air...they record them and watch them as they can anyway...

My guess is to get it on prime time TV…
Many years ago when I’d go to a few nascar races a year they’d start at 1 & be over around 4:30 and I could hop in my car and make the 500 mile ride home & be at work Monday morning…. Nowadays that’s not possible even if I did want to go.

TV dictates start times. Has everything to do with scheduling.
