I have a question for you guys who follow wing racing more than I do. With Eldora and Knoxville seeming to try and top the other with the King's Royal and Nationals. With Eldora adding another huge payout, do you see a day when it tops Knoxville as the biggest race, or do you think it just adds another big event?

Just another big race. Knoxville has the history and pays much more back thru the field.

You could be right about the little 500. What is the total purse? I think the outlaws are right around $50k for their regular $10K to win show.

I think the Little 500 pays $25,000 to win. Not sure what it pays to start, but know its decent. With 33 cars that adds up pretty quick. Smackdown pays $1500 to win, $1500 to start. Last I knew an Outlaw race paid $10,000 to win and $1000 to start for a one night show. The highest paying of any series, but not the highest paying in the state. In fact, the All Stars paid $26,000 to win at an Indiana race last year.

While the statement about Smackdown paying the largest purse might be accurate(as I don't have the purse payout total available, my best estimate is its about $57,000) the logic is flawed. Smackdown is a 3 day event with a bonus race the night before. Its also one of the crown jewels of the USAC season. The Outlaws race for $50,800 every night as standard purse in 2021.
Its tough to compare these as they aren't apples to apples comparison. You would need to compare Smackdown to Knoxville($604K, A Main only), The Kings Royal($312.7K) or The National Open($155.9K) to have a relatively fair comparison and we know from a $$$$'s perspective there is no comparison. Its roughly 3x, 6x and 12x when it comes to payout

"Smackdown pays $1500 to win, $1500 to start."??!!?? "
Really? Not a typo?
The outlaws also get $30 to $40 for general admission and people pay it. I think they are a sub-par show compared to USAC. I keep going a few times a year to woo and usually, not always I am disappointed in their show. One lap dashes and zip passes. Faster than fast but not a lot of close battles. Maybe because of the speed.

I am hoping they will compliment each other so we can watch both. Any non-wing fan who will care to not watch a wing race and any wing fan that will care to not watch a non-wing race is a LOSER!
Can't we all just get along?
