I ventured over to Lawrenceburg last night to watch the UMP Summernationals. I won't bore anyone with the race details as I realize many don't want to hear about anything but non-winged sprint cars. However, I wanted to let you know about this great transformation. When I walked in the first thing that I could think of was WOW! They have done a magnificent job with the track.

I was very impressed with how the track held up without any rework being done. They might have considered doing some track maintenance but the weather was approaching and they wanted to get the show in. There was passing, which in late models is sometimes limited at best.

I saw the track earlier this year and I couldn't imagine that that pile of mud would ever look like this. Pictures on here certainly didn't do it justice. I know it was late getting finished but I think that you will find it to be well worth the wait. I am not trying to start any type of disagreement and I don't know if it will be a great weekly track or not. First impression was just awesome.

I can't wait to witness the opening round of Indiana Sprint Week. I think it will be a very interesting evening. Dave you have a beautiful facility and the only complaint that I had was we didn't see the 50-50 girls over in turn #2.:O:

Hope to see many of you at the Burg for ISW.

We went over last night also. Very nice facility. And a huge kudo's needs to go to all of the modified drivers for pushing that cushion up to make it a pretty good feature for the late models. I was very dissappointed in the heats. Didn't see one car pass except for last place. As a matter of fact I didn't even watch the last late model heat. I know a few of you on here know me and know that I am a HUGE late model fan and that is big for me not even to watch all of the heats. I am sure it would be a good place to watch sprints. The mods put on some pretty good racing though. Once again very nice facility Dave.

Mike,
the 50-50 girlz made their way through the turn 2 area early during hot laps and qualifying. Looked like the 3 that used to work for Tom W. The guy that gives away Pizza's for answering trivia questions also came over to turn stands to give away a pizza and some tee shirts.

Moyer is right about the heats, there was one pass between two of the slower cars in the one heat and that was it. Feature was much better.

Rumor has it, noted Late Model fan, Cecil98 was spotted on the back stretch, although he left before the feature:doh:.

Ventured over to the main grandstand to watch the feature, and somebody actually had the nerve to sit under the "A" in Marv's seats. Maybe he sold them the rights to use them.

Marv PM'ed me yesterday to let me know that he was doing a birthday celebration (not his) last night. I am sure he offered the seats to the highest bidder :angry-smiley-007: but it certainly would have been out of my price range.

It was a last minute decision after looking at the weather for both Gas City and Bloomington. I missed the first 3 heats since work schedule had me there until 5:15 PM. The fourth heat was rather uneventful but I thought the rest of the program was good. I even enjoyed the modifieds which put on a pretty good show.

Sorry I missed seeing you but hope to see a lot of folks during sprint week. Now off to Eldora for the finale to Ohio Sprint Week.

Also went to The Burg last night. I have the same thoughts as the above, not much passing going on. One thing that drove me nuts during the racing was listening to the announcer say over and over "Here at the new 3/8's quarter mile" I think we need to figure out if it is a 3/8's or 1/4 mile since it can't be both. Can't wait for ISW. Bob Bressert

DANG!!!! you caught me! I was hopin' to sneak in and checkout the mudcabs without being noticed! Yes, it's true, I left before the "feach"! Actually went down to watch our buddy David Spille run. Unfortunately David didn't make the show so I headed for the pub.

PS.......Please, don't anyone on this board tell Chris Nunn I was down there!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone else think that the heats would have been much better if they would have inverted the field. I thought the heats were boring but the rest of the racing was really good. Shirley, Casebolt and Scott James passed a lot of cars coming from the back in the feature. I agree with Bob, can't wait for ISW!!

Possibly, but would not have put any money on it. It was clearly one lane.
