It's Smackdown Eve and for those of us going it's surely like being a kid on Christmas Eve. In a short time, this has become a must see event or, at least, at the top of several bucket lists.

Last year, with a lot of help, we raised over $700 for hard luck racers, including Cole Ketcham, Casey Shuman, Shane Cottle and Robert Bell, among others. We hope to do the same this year, knowing the inevitability of racers dealing with anything from a crash to a broken part on the car.

Please donate to the Smackdown Cancer fundraisers this week and if you have money left over, find Frank Daigh, Jeff VanWinkle or me somewhere around the bleachers or pits. Each day I will post which t-shirt I'll be wearing. (Tomorrow, it will be a gray Hoosier Auto Race Fans shirt, probably with ketchup stains on the front.)

I'll let others determine what is or is not a worthy cause. We each make our own choices and we open our wallets. All I know is that these people put a lot on the line to entertain fans. If they give an extra effort, why can't we do the same if (and only if) we can afford it? Even if it's only enough to buy a pork chop sandwich, believe me, these guys will appreciate it.

God bless you all and thank you very much. DB
