Yeah, I'll say the fencing is inadiquate. However one of the reasons these high flying tumbles are happening is using the smallest side nerfs available. Probably just to save a couple pounds.
Instead of cars being deflected, they are getting into each other in the area between the wheels and launching over other cars wheels.

The cars need to be slowed down some. Theres already a series for top speeds called NHRA drag racing. Jeez if only there was a way to keep the speeds down some and at the same time make the racing better, maybe removing the wings might slow them down ? That way I believe you actually have to moderate your speed by using the throttle and maybe getting sideways some to scrub off speed.

Taking the wing off isn't going to solve it. We already seen one of the WIlliams Boys clear the 15ft fence at Perris which is probably closer to 20 if you include the track to fence area, The only way to slow them down is to give them tires that won't stick at 130mph corner entry. I think rear tire width should be dropped by almost half.

Reducing traction would definitely reduce corner and over all speed. Maybe go a step further and add some holes to the wing for less downforce without upsetting the visual aesthetics too much... Battle bars like some others suggested, would be a step towards safer racing and spectating. Do wish the OP would see about changing the title, since no one went into, "The Stands". We don't need sensationalism in this day and age...

From what I've seen. One was treated and released with minor injuries.

One had some pretty serious injuries including a collapsed lung, several fractured vertebrae and they had to remove his spleen.

I have not heard about the third but I think I read he/she is stable.

Well I will not post it even though there was nobody seriously hurt. But I did see the video of Saldana's flip out of the park from someone sititng in them stands and if there had been someone sitting in the first couple rows or even walking, the walking path. That was just plain lucky. It hit right in front of the stands bounced over a tow truck and some others in the pits were fleeing.
