Thank you for sharing the photos, I get a kick out of the different kinds of roll bars and cages.

Times have changed. All the cars were on open single axle trailers and most of the crew's were dressed in white. I think at one time it was required to wear white in the pits. Back before they allowed women in the pits. A wonderful post for all us over the hill guys.

I like the Roberts roadster with no cage. He was from the Kalamazoo area and long time car owner. Lets see, the old days, no ladies in the pits, had to be 18 to be in the pits, had to wear white, Nothing was green and no peanuts. Check out the safely fence in the background of the pictures. Also some of the refueling rigs in the pictures.

Notice a lot of things, the almost complete lack of NEW slicks, "purple tires", milk can for fuel, or cold ones, Craftsman creeper, still have mine, never took it to the track tho, lots of former Indy cars ended up like this, I bought one off a used car lot in Columbus, In, in about 1958, one of the many things I should have kept, nice pictures of the past, huh Jimmy! At the time these pictures were taken, IMCA was the sanctioning body for Little 500 and their rule book mandated white pants.
