Thanks Joe a crew for a great night of racing. This was my first race there since early last season and love all the improvements/investments that have been put into the track. Thanks for taking the time to re-work the track and for all the people complaining about the track re-work I think that asphalt racing has a fairly consistent surface, maybe that would be your cup of tea. Also regarding the ticket prices I only paid $23 for my ticket thanks to HARF and Joe Spiker, so those complaining about the $5 difference in ticket prices for Midget Week would be wise to sign up for a HARF card as it easily pays for itself if you attend enough races at the right tracks. Also thanks to Joe for making the $2 discount at every race this year, including USAC and Outlaws. Look forward to visiting again Wednesday and seeing what wings look like running around there again, as it seems like last time Wing Sprints were at LPS it was the National Sprint Tour that had broke off from the Outlaws.
Am I the only person who remembers that before Joe took over, USAC wouldn't race at LPS. If it weren't for Joe and Jill Spiker stepping in, investing time and money, and busting their asses, LPS would be a rock quarry today!!! I've been going there since I was a little kid and it's one of the best facilities around. Joe, Jill, and everybody at LPS...THANK YOU!!!
NST was there and so was I and the old crew and promotor made a slop joint out of the place, first heat wasn't till ten thirty on a weds night. TK won in Kinsers Car.
And Yes, USAC quit running all three of his tracks as he was threatening drivers and punched the competition director at Terre Haute.
Thanks Joe, The buildings and track were fallling apart. It went from half full grandstands to SRO and Nice facilities again as I remembered it in the eighties when I first ventured up there
Speaking for HARF we couldn't THANK Jill & Joe enough for this promotion. It added 30+ new members to our club and benefits so many others. That simple $2.00 discount is enough to buy you a 10 gallon bag full of the best popcorn i ever had at a race track. Let's do a modern day L.P.S. checklist: great racing, the best seating/viewing of the action, food A+, ease of parking A+, great announcer (brad made me say that) and so many other +'s. The RISK the Spiker's took this year was huge & i hope race fans see that & pay them back for it.
BUT...wherever your home track is, get out to the races! Who of these young drivers will be our next Foyt, Stewart, Gordon? And you can say you saw them take their first checkered flag on a little Indiana dirt track...i'm heading for one now.
p.s. Thanx for the kind words about HARF, we try our best, bob.
