The last few laps of the SOD Sprint Feature from Butler Speedway last Saturday Night. Video sent to me by a friend. Doug Zimmerman leading, Brian Smith chasing.

The feature started well after 1:00 a.m. fish and I pointed this out in the Kokomo 5-22 thread. I felt it was more appropriate to move the Butler talk to a new thread as discussion of the modified feature debacle commenced.

Apologies for the incorrect spelling of "Speedway" in the thread title.

Looks like an exciting finish that many people probably missed. I was actually considering giving Butler another chance on Saturday. It's been 5+ years since I've been there, but your post confirms that my decision to go to Fremont instead was the right one. While it wasn't the best racing ever, I saw 4 divisions of racing and after a 2 hour drive, was back home in Rochester MI by 1230.

I thought Butler made an effort last year to speed up the program. Most nights with the exception of 1 or 2 were not near as late as past. This year especially Saturday they appear to be back at it. I don't know why they run so many caution laps. Who really care if the 10th and 11th place car in the ss feature are in the right order. Somethings the track can't help like 20 wrecks in the mod feature and red flag for an inexperienced sprint car driver causing a wreck. All and all I'm still hopeful at continued progress in the right direction for Butler.

On a good note there were 27 sprint cars on hand and the new sod tires seem to be good in a small sample size. Hopefully the can keep the 360s and 410s even and they can draw good fields at tracks other than Butler.

Sounds like a 360 put a whipping to them at Hartford, which is impressive that a 360 out ran the 410's there. Good thing to hear Brian Smith ran both nights on the same tires, sounds like a good deal so far.

That was a very sweet win for Brian Smith, his first feature win at Butler. Been trying since the mid 90s. Two very well-liked drivers at the front, didn't want either to come in second.

They had a great crowd. It's too bad many people went home thinking OMG another late Butler show instead of witnessing that great feature finish.
