Has anyone heard of these before ?
I'm behind the times but have been looking for nonwing racing within a reasonable distance and I found these.
Tobias SpeedSTR cars.
They are a clean looking midget, modern body kinda and feature,
Built by Tobias, modified legends.
1250 lbs w/o driver
150 c.i. mopar on meth, hilborn injection, self starting
Winters quick change rear.
Turn Key car cost: $ 18186.63
The best advertisement for them is that Billy Pauch East Coast legend is driving them for fun. So are a few other modified guys.
There is also a class called the USAC SpeedSTR series.
Go to Speedway Entertainment website to see more.

I've seen them at Path Valley and Action Track USA. They put on a pretty good show, I thought they were a bit better at Path Valley mainly because of the larger track size.

The SpeedSTR cars run regularly on Wednesday during the summer at Action Track USA at the Kutztown Fairgrounds and draw a good field weekly along with the 600 mini sprints who draw between 35 to 45 cars themselves. What is interesting with the SpeedSTR class is the diversity of the field with former and current modified standouts Kenny Brightbill, Billy Pauch Sr and Jr, Jeff Strunk and Tim Buckwalter and many others along with open wheel drivers such as Steve Buckwalter and Brian Montieth and late model drivers such as Rick Eckert running these affordable cars for some good purses. They run a real good show with a great crowd on hand weekly. Also this year a new track in Delaware named Silo Speedway will be opening on Friday nights with the SpeedSTR's scheduled to run there also.

Back It

You thinking about starting a race car museum up there???

The Speedsters are a clandestine Midget class sanctioned bu USAC up in the north east. Basically a Focus Midget powered by a Chrysler Neon Motor.. Speed way magazine gave them a nice write up a couple of years ago..I think they are like legend cars in that you race their car or don't race. Good thing I guess but then you get back to twenty grand race cars that could be built for seven grand by the individual.

The Tobias SpeedSTR has been around for several years now. They race weekly in the Summer @ Kutztown, they have a traveling series & they are fairly popular in Quebec. Check out http://thecushion.com/join-now/, they have Kutztown's weekly program on their website's On Demand feature from the last 2 seasons. Kutztown is awesome! Especially the 600's.

Now imagine these race cars on a 3/8 mile race track? Would the racing be as exciting? Size is everything in small car with Low Horsepower. How do we get some smaller race tracks in Indiana?

Why would I want to imagine that? Maybe put some tires at both ends of LBurgs Front straight and let em race a 2/10ths mile.

Charles the old L Burg would be Ideal for the little cars we put on some pretty good races with the 1200 cars when it was a 1/4 mile. The new track is just to darned big for this type of car to race on and put on a wheel to wheel race. It generally ended up at the new track with every body racing themselves with 5 car lengths between each car. Mini Sprints don't race there anymore.
