I think thought out and worked on a bit more, It could be done without cheapening the CB. Something like tag the tail of a A of a Qualifying night with one position point less than those that got in that night. With is results that night determining Saturdays placement, Even if he/she finishes last in the prelim night A. It puts him able to skip E-N features. possibly. Without being given a reasonably doable shot at Saturdays A for something totally unrelated to the CB.
What if a Don Moore car won?

I think we all need to thank the nattering nabobs of negativism for helping kill this idea. We all know that midget racing has some serious problems. The pits are so full of cars that some of the late arriving teams have to park outside. The stands are so full that if you don't get to the track very early it is SRO. Thank goodness the promoters have given up on an idea that would make those problems even worse. Midget racing is in such great shape that it doesn't need any innovative ideas which have the potential of making a crowded situation even worse.

People aren't upset that midgets were scheduled. That's not the issue. It was only the Chili Bowl tie in. If you wanna make the show in Tulsa then get a car and team together and go race your way in against the best midget drivers in the world like everyone else. How is a special event like that fair to other competitors that aren't able to make the show? In Tulsa everyone has an equal chance.

As for Plymouth, if they wan't to bring notoriety to themselves as a facility and to midget racing, it is possible to do so without associating a race or races to the Chili Bowl to achieve their goals.

Look no further than 60 miles down the road to Kokomo Speedway where they have the Kokomo Grand Prix. That event brings in 40+ midgets no problem and they double the show by bringing in sprints which results in a ton of guys pulling double duty and in turn putting more fans in the stands. The track has worked closely with various sanctioning bodies to make it into a marquee event in a region that midget racing comes at a premium.

If they time it correctly and make it worth while for the drivers I'm sure Plymouth could come up with an event that could be just as big of a hit without having to involve the CB.
