10/17/15 11:11 PM MESERAULL TAKES TEN GRAND WITH LAWRENCEBURG "FALL NATIONALS" TRIUMPH
http://usacracing.com/news/sprint-ca...nats-oct172015 Lawrenceburg, Indiana…….Thomas Meseraull made it back-to-back AMSOIL National Sprint Car wins with Saturday night’s Lawrenceburg Speedway “Fall Nationals.” The San Jose, California native picked up ten grand with a dominant drive to victory by 2.899 seconds aboard the Marion Underground Construction – Zeller Construction #66 DRC/Dynotech. “I’ve had a tough couple weeks in other cars since we won Eldora, so it feels good to be back in the Amati Racing #66 and beat all these guys who are at the top of the game. I have so many laps here, and thanks to Todd Keen for letting me race here so much, that it felt good to be back at the Burg. (Crew chief) Donnie Gentry was not afraid to get it tight enough, and it was money from the start. It’s surreal; I’ve been coming to USAC shows for a few years and getting beat, and now I feel like I should be up there and I’ve got a car capable of winning these races,” Meseraull said. Brady Bacon took the lead from outside the front-row as Meseraull snuck past polesitter Scotty Weir off turn-two to take second. Meseraull slid past Bacon on lap two and brought Kevin Thomas, Jr. with him on lap two, but Dave Darland slowed to a stop on the backstretch to bring out a caution. Bacon reverted to the lead. Meseraull did not waste time, as he entered turn-one on the restart with a slidejob for the lead, and he rocketed away from the field. Thomas also moved past Bacon and tried to keep Meseraull in sight while setting a blistering pace into lapped traffic. ProSource “Fast Qualifier” C.J. Leary, who received an extra $1,000 from the Lawrenceburg safety team in memory of Bill Hall, was also on the move and finally cleared Bacon for third on lap fourteen. He tried to join the top duo as they carved through traffic over the last half of the race. As the track started to take rubber through turns three and four, Thomas closed slightly on the leader but could never get close enough to take a shot at Meseraull, who continually put lapped cars behind him, eventually lapping up to 13th. Thomas was unchallenged behind him and came home second in the Griffin’s Propane – Bakken Concrete #17RW Maxim/Fisher. “It’s such a confidence booster to be running so well of late. Mike Dutcher, A.J. Bray, and Charlie Fisher all got together and have us in a really good spot right now. We were in striking distance again tonight, but just needed things to fall our way a little better. He was able to clear another lapped car every time I got him in sight, so he was tough to catch. We just ran out of laps on that one,” Thomas said. Leary wound up third in the Leary Construction Company – Green Tech Lubricants #30 DRC/Claxton. “Meseraull got to the lead so fast, so it was tough to keep pace with him starting from sixth. We were good as the race went on and turned our fastest lap late in the race after some rubber came in, but we would have needed a yellow to get a shot at them. It would have been hairy to make something happen with them, but I’d have liked to get a shot. We’ve got some momentum again before we go out west, so hopefully we can get a win out there again this year,” Leary said. Bacon came home fourth in the Hoffman Auto Racing – Mean Green #69 Triple X/Williams Mopar, and Chris Windom charged from 14th to finish fifth in the Rick Pollock – Bates Commodities #21x Maxim/Advanced. Robert Ballou picked up the B&W Auto Mart “Hard Charger” while holding onto his National point lead while going from 21st to finish tenth. Brady Bacon won the Indy Race Parts/Spike Products bonus as the highest average finisher between Saturday night’s event and the World of Outlaws event on Friday, and Shane Stewart was awarded the Priority Aviation bonus as as WoO full-time competitor in the night’s event, although his night ended early after a flip during qualifying. Sure Stewart didn't flip while trying to Qualify ? Thought he looked pretty good during hot laps.

Stewart did flip on his first lap in qualifying, crew guy told me he tried to correct the car like it had a wing and well, it didn't work. Landon Simon said on facebook recently that his season is done and they are looking forward to next season.

It was in qualifying that Stewart Flipped.
I was cold at the start of the heats but was fine and even took my hat and gloves off for consi's and features. Had a great night, The racing in the heats and consi's were mesmerizing. Three and four wide, and the track was top to bottom smooth and racy. Yeah it did get one lane confuse half of the feature, But Bacon and Tmez swapped he lead several times in the first few laps and Leary was able to work his way up a few spots, Bet he battled with Bacon for six or seven laps over third. He's always been fast here. Vintage Was very cool seeing Greg Staab wheel the Shaw restored 68 Elson Spc. in the vintage heat while Shaw drove the 23 and Jo Kerr in the 44 in the heat Then Shaw in the 49 battling Kerr in the 23 in the feature. The 49 Camaro that was driven in the heat by Dan Shaw was the actual car from the movie Six Pack with Kenny Rogers. Mods, I told my uncle, That if you can beat Kramer or Hamilton here, You've really accomplished something. Richie Lex did ![]() It was good to see and talk to "THE DOG" for a little bit. A long chat early in the evening with Jazztrombonist and a evening of great racing spent with my Uncle. Even if it was cold. "It was AWESOME" Thanks to all the teams, Staff, Safety Crew and Drivers who made it all possible. My Uncle asked when the countdown to the next races starts and even considered hitting the west coast shows. LOL Not this year

I think my fingers are finally thawed out enough to type something.
Congrats to TMez for the win and by payday. Not a surprise to me. He has this place figured out as well as anyone. It was fun watching Robert Ballou coming from the back to get a respectable finish. I am becoming more impressed with Tony DiMattia. He was just a blink of an eye from taking home the $1.1k quick time. Had a little trouble when the track changed a lot from the quals to the heats but he will get that figured out before long I'm sure. Kyle Robbins was on a rail in the semi and I thought he had it made to win the semi, but must have gotten into the wall between 3 & 4. I really didn't see what happened. I think he could have made some noise in the feature. It looked like to me Shane Stewart missed his mark going into turn 3. Maybe a wing to non-wing translation, I really couldn't say. It would have been fun to see what he could do with the wing off. Once I was hunkered down with my 5 layers on I was immobile and I guess anti-social too. I missed the Mayor of section A a lot last night but he probably made a wise choice to skip this one given the circumstance. I got to talk to most all the usual suspects last night and finally had the pleasure to meet up with IOW stalwart Jim Goerge if for just a few minutes after the feature ran. And thanks to Dave Rudisell and crew for another successful season at the 'burg. This is all I have. Now it's back to devising ways to avoid the "Honey-Do" list today.

The usac heats were some of the best I have seen all year. Those vintage cars get a little hairy in their races. Mods were good too. Great ending to 2015 for me.
