I read an article about the new owner. He has an interesting story. He only dreams big. While he has had success, he has also missed the mark on a couple of businesses.

The concept of turning a race track into a concert venue has been tried numerous times, and I don't ever remember great success with it. I also think booking two nights of racing a week at one track is ambitious. Another idea that has not traditionally worked.

Perhaps he is a better businessman than most, only time will tell.

Ascot Park used to run 4 nights a week I believe. If it's promoted good i don't see why it couldn't work.
Heck who thought the Chili Bowl would have become what it has. Just after Christmas and New Year's in the freezing cold in the middle of Oklahoma. Ya just never know.

Two things that helped grow the Chili Bowl were no competing events going against it and people looking to escape "cabin fever" in the heart of winter. Maybe Jack Nicholson wouldn't have gone nuts in "The Shining" if he'd had the Chili Bowl to hit.

He was just asking a question? I see the backtrack. Thank you Tim Clauson for speaking up!

I didn't backtrack at all. I shared a video of the overall plans of this Badlands deal, There is clearly some backing.

My question was, These are the kinda purses that tracks around here hold two or three times a year and charge 30 bucks at the front gate for.

Will a track support it every week in fans?

I also pointed out that its been stated Knoxville loses on everything but the nationals. Now weather they've overcome that, I also don't know.

There is nothing wrong in wondering how this is going to work. According to a quick web search the Sioux Falls metro area has a population of 250,000. The whole Badlands brand is going to be difficult to support with this population base.

Honestly, how many people have Sioux Falls at the top of their bucket list?

For a single big event, they should do ok pulling fans from the surrounding area. Minneapolis, Fargo, Des Moines, Sioux City and Omaha are all less than 4 hours away. Drawing a crowd to support the weekly purse they are discussing seems like a tall order. I wish him good luck.

How about $700.00 to start, and $700.00 to win, isn't that what everyone wants? Bob
