For immediate release(Flora, IL) the 305 Racesaver sprint cars have been dropped from tonight, June 13th program. Route 45 Raceway received word just a short time ago that none of the teams were interested in making the trip for tonight's program. "As a promoter I am disappointed to hear this decision. I am all for economy classes and looked forward to these cars sharing the stage with MOWA. We will look in a different direction and adjust the remaining 305 dates to another open wheel class" said BJ McCammon, promoter of Route 45 Raceway. The UMP hornets have been added to tonight's program.
You just can’t trust these weather forecasts anymore. Rain was taken out of the forecast when I left my house at 4. I thought they’d be in the clear. A light shower hit the track at 7:30 and delayed the program for two hours until the track could be ironed back in. Props to Rt 45 Raceway for having the equipment to do the job. With more precip on the way, the window to get the whole show in was going to be tight. Unfortunately, it started to spit rain again just as the MOWA sprint main went green. The rain came down in earnest when A.J. Burns flipped bringing out the red. As the race had already gone 15 laps of the scheduled 25 the main was called complete.
As for the other open wheel divisions on hand, 13 WAR East sprint cars made the call for their heats. There were 8-9 BAM Midgets. The two WAR East heats won by Aric Gentry and Tommy Rockwell. The lone midget heat went Korey Weyant.
The entire staff at Route 45 Raceway would like to thank our great fans! We tried our hardest to get the entire show in last night but Mother Nature wasn't on the same page. We worked hard to give you one of our best events of the season! Our fans are the best...thank you for your patience during the rain delay!
