Are these 410's? Anybody have an idea of how many cars they might draw Friday night? Don't get many non wing races over this way so I might go check it out.
I'll take a head count. It sounds like a handful of our MOWA guys might play non-wing in Lincoln Friday along with our Illinois-based non-wing guys and a handful of cars from Missouri. It's very much a run what ya brung series with everything from 410's to 305's on the track.
WAR has been very successful in Missouri and we gave them a few dates at our tracks to try to get an East version off the ground. We also wanted to do it in conjunction with MOWA instead of them being competing series that fight for cars, so you'll see the race is operated by some of our MOWA officials.
There's a lot going on this weekend but I expect a pretty nice field to show up Friday at Lincoln. Hoping that we get this thing off to nice start.
If you know of someone planning to race with us Friday at Lincoln, please have them contact Jake Croxton at 309-371-5600 or me, Ken Dobson at 217-371-3653 (text preferred for both us.) Since this is our first WAR race in Central Illinois, it will allow us to stay in touch with you about rules, format etc and also allow us to get car number and sponsor information out of the way early. It's far easier for our announcer to mention you and your sponsors if he is able to prepare more than 5 mins before you hit the track. Eric actually studies that stuff in advance. If you can't make Lincoln and plan to make it to another WAR race in Illinois, go ahead and contact us so that we can stay in touch with you about upcoming races.
It's Monday and the event information has already been sent by Jake to our MOWA drivers about our MOWA races Saturday and Sunday - because we know who they are and how to get in touch. It would be nice to be able to do the same for our WAR drivers for this event and ones to come.
And as for the weather question... it looks to be one of the rare nice Fridays of the year.
Based on early feedback, looks like 24 or so cars (you don't know how much I hate predicting car count). We've talked to 14 from around Illinois so far today and Andy with WAR in Missouri says he currently thinks 10-12 are coming from there. I'll put some names out a little later after some more confirmation.
EDIT: Now approaching 30. So we are going to bump this to $1,000 to win from WAR's normal $800. See, good things can happen when drivers stay in touch with their race tracks and we can let fans know in advance what kind of show they can expect instead of guessing at it.
