With all the time, money and sweat that goes into the preperation for this event, 3 attempts per day per car is the least they should get. Just ask Greg Beck. I'm sure he would have loved to had a 4th bullet in the chamber to get her in the show, time permitting. But as it was, they wouldn't have had a chance to pull the trigger.
Yes Dwight, It's sure is great to have Bump Day back finally. It was a stressful and exciting last hour in the qualifying line, as it should be. However, It sure is tough though to see the beat and defeated looks on the guys that have busted ars all month, rebuilding cars during all nighters, Tweaking every bit of speed, lap after lap, only to load up and go home....and in one case they will load her up on a dolly, and buckets of scrap. But, that is Indy, and part of what makes the Speedway everthing she is. Just ask anyone on Pit Lane today....Indy is still,"The Greatest Spectacle in Racing"

Ken, my idea on limiting attempts is based on the fact that qualifying is on the edge, every second, every lap. To ask a driver to do that up to 12 times for one race is inviting disaster. At the end, what we saw yesterday in the final hour was teams merely taking out as much rear wing as they dared making the cars fast but hard to control. At Indy that will bite you. Again, nothing negative, just tossing out thoughts.
