red70 is right. The WAR Series in Kansas City is a non-wing open motor class and there's guys running 305's like him and I up to guys running alum 410's and 422's. Our tracks seem to slick off more than out there and the 305's can hang. The motor will last an entire season and it's half the price to build and freshen. Don't get me wrong a 305 against a 410 on a tacky track you're in trouble but the 305's have won several races here. In the Northeast they run the sportsman 358 sprints the same night as the 410's successfully. WAR typically pays $125 to start and $800 to win and have been running B mains. The 1500 pound weight and no cockpit adjustments also helps cost quite a bit.

1)Yes it should happen, 305 or SEALED crate (You can buy the 604 Speedway motors for $5500 or a CT525 if you want something with motor with a little more yank for 10k from GM Performance) steel body shocks and put em on hockey pucks.

Say if the Indiana 1000cc people want to come to Ohio there upfront Indiana car probably is going to be somewhere in the back because almost every upfront car of what i was told is spending 8-15K just in a motor. So if a 305 person in Indiana wanted to go to Ohio to race they have more chance of being competitive. Mini sprints were made to be for the less paid people could spend less and be fast but what I've seen there is only few associations that are that way anymore.

The GM 604 with a 2 barrell carb, or a 305 in 1 division. Call it the "Crate Sprint' division.

Same principle as restricted 410's in a 360 class..

Little motors dont buzz tires on a dry-slick track, less tire bill.

Traveling tour from Indiana, Ohio, maybe PA. Winged AND non-winged for a 10, 15, 20 race series..

Traveling series and Sportsman type racing don't work well together. Low purse, limited resource, lack of deep pocket sponsors and high fuel cost. Kind of makes us low budget racers want to stay close to home. Traveling with a race car is much more expensive than traveling with Kids.

We are lucky because we have a sponsor with very deep pockets, it's to bad the bottom has fell out of them, now he can reach right through them and touch the ground with either one of them.

Dad, have a four wheeler already for that reason and I suppose I'm one of the lucky ones that have 3 or 4 buddy's that just love to be at a track and help wrench on a car, push it etc. As for the methanol I was figuring a crate 350 with a carb not injection would be better on fuel than the 421 I was running. And those little RR run us about 150 a piece every couple weeks the only part not a whole lot smaller on our cars is the price tag haha.we race with a return of 25$ if you finish 7th on back on a race night, but we just do it for the fun of the sport.


Also it is agreed about looking on the classifieds for pricing, to look at comparison on price I can buy a triple x sprint frame and body new for 3000 or buy a new hyper micro frame and body kit for 3795.00
