The family and I were planning on attending the IRL races in Kansas and Iowa this season, as well as the 500 of course. I see this on the Kansas site.....is this normal? You have to buy a season pass per seat for like a million bucks? No individual tickets are sold? In my humble opinion...that kinda SUCKS? Not to mention no garage/pit pass sales? Harsh Kansas.

Quote from the (frequently asked questions) section:

Can I buy individual tickets for events at the track?
No. Kansas Speedway's major races are sold as an RPM Ticket package. Qualifying tickets Friday, Sept. 26, 2008 are the only tickets sold separately.

How much are RPM Tickets?
RPM Tickets for the entire year start at $210. Other tickets, depending on what section is available, are $230, $255, $295 and $315 for all of the major races.

Unquote.

So I check out Iowa's website, and no problem. :thumb Individual ticket sales for all 3 days and individual garage/pit passes for all 3 days or a weekend pass for cheaper. That's cool for Iowa. What's up with Kansas? I checked the IRL site and they have nothing to do with it, it's an individual track policy.

last I heard, Chicagoland has the same "season ticket" deal, which probably would not work if it weren't for big demand for their NASCAR tickets.

Ovalmeister...that's been the norm since they opened I believe. If you go to EBAY though, tickets can be found for the Truck / IRL race no problem, at a decent price. :wink

I feel for ya David. At least at Kentucky Speedway in our area, they sell single event tickets after the "package" deal sales have been exhausted. We got good seats all together - it was a "Coke family four pack". Seats normally $70 each. We got four good seats and coupons for four cokes and four hot dogs all for $100 last year. Of course that doesn't help you at Kansas, now does it?

I have heard that a lot of Nascar fans buy these package deals just for the Nascar tickets and have no interest in IndyCar racing. Maybe if you do a little snooping around, they may be willing to sell you their Kansas IRL tickets. Or scalpers? That's all I can think of. Sorry.

Plenty of seats under $20 and some as low as $8

I think International Speedway Corporation sells their venues in this way. I know Kansas and Chicago are both ISC tracks, but Iowa isn't.

Luckily, there are ways to get around that as previously mentioned.

My fiancee's family buys ticket packages to the Kansas Speedway, and I think to renew their ticket package for a season was around a grand. So much for cheap family entertainment!

Luckily, my family gets our Kansas Speedway tickets through a sponsor, so we don't have that headache, for now anyway.

I've been to every IRL race at Kansas, and I'm looking forward to being there again this year!

Probably a lot of truth to that. I wanted to go to a Saturday Busch race in Phoenix one time. Called the track for tickets and was told I had to buy a "package" for the weekend. I already had plans on Sunday and couldn't go to the cup race, just wanted Saturday tickets. I thought it was ironic seeing all those empty seats in the stands, while I watched a race on tv that I wanted to go to, and I was on my couch 12 miles away in Chandler.

That's good advice. I think my first mistake was waiting too long. It was a last minute decision to go, so next time I'll try you guys suggestions. :thumb

Thanks,
David.

That's a pretty sweet deal right there, wonder if they have something like that in KS? :thumb
Gregg, are you gonna be in Indy on Carb day? Some friends and family and I are going to watch IRL practice, Indy lights race, (outside turn 1 stands which were open last year for carb day) Hard Rock downtown for lunch, then off to the fairgrounds for some real racing! You should pile in with us, it's gonna be a sweet day! :respect: (That goes for anyone else who reads this and wants to join us.)

I wish we were going to be there on Carb Day. We will unfortunately get into Indy just in time for the Little 500 on Saturday. Are you going to that? If so, we sit on the backstretch almost directly across from the starting line, I think the 8th row. At the 500 on Sunday we are in stand G77 (shortstretch between 1 & 2), top row. Look us up if you can.

Good luck on the KS tix and have fun.:thumb I'll be returning to our old stomping grounds on Sunday for the rain date at Winchester (weather permitting). I'll guess I'll have to tape Kansas. Don't forget to wave when the camera is on you.

Some of the other ISC venues have season ticket plans, but Kansas and Chicagoland are the only ones who sellout the entire track due to it.

It actually works out very good for those only interested in the IRL race, one should be able to get tickets second-hand for dirt cheap.
