my TV doesn't show the replay as being scheduled. Can't find it on any of the web-sites either. Where did you find it, racefan20? Time Warner in the Cincinnati area shows drag racing at 11am, car auctions, cheerleading and dance competitions and then the Long Beach Race at 5:30pm. No IRL replay.

with the weep out the tv listings don't have time to change to new scheduling.

For Immediate Release

WET TRACK FORCES POSTPONEMENT OF INDY JAPAN 300

MOTEGI Japan, Saturday, April 19, 2008 – Hideki Mutoh addressed the fans at Twin Ring Motegi, thanking them for their patience and inviting them to return the next morning for the Indy Japan 300.

The Andretti Green Racing driver was as disappointed as the crowd that persistent "weepers" in Turn 4 of the 1.5-mile oval forced postponement of the sixth annual race to 11 a.m. (JST) -- 10 p.m. (ET) April 19 with the live broadcast on ESPN Classic. A re-airing of the 200-lap race is scheduled for 11 a.m. (ET) April 20 on ESPN2.

The weepers – water emanating through the asphalt surface from the soaked ground underneath – were created by about 2.3 inches of rain that fell at the track over the previous 30 hours. Rain stopped early in the morning, and track workers with Delphi Safety Team personnel worked for more than seven hours in an attempt to stem the flow from multiple locations.

Brian Barnhart, president of the competition and operations divisions of the sanctioning Indy Racing League and the race's chief steward, twice consulted drivers regarding the safety of the racing surface before asking Mutoh and Roger Yasukawa to address the crowd.

Unfortunately, Cecil, the way you worded your post has probably caused some IOWers to lump you into the same bonehead category as Assiemidgetfan, mcwelt, and turd4.

We all had long ago resigned ourselves to the ugly fact that Danica's first win would have the naysayers crawling out from under their rocks to blast her.

I am not a Danica fan. I am a staunch open-wheel fan. Danica's victory is a shot in the arm for "our kind" of racing. The whining of a few will not detract much from the big plus her win means for the IRL.

Perhaps the only thing that would help the IRL as much as this great Danica victory would possibly be the entry of Alex Zanardi in the 500. I can only dream...........

Fixed by fuel or not she still is the winner of the race. Buddy Lazier still is the winner of the 1996 Indy 500.
Hater or like her or love her she still won the race in Japan. I don't see any other women running at this level of competition much less winning.

I'm sure all the other female drivers are talking BS about her cause their not on that level but after all the Danica hype now she has won and that should bring lots of new fans and promotion to the Indy series.

Maybe if she made the flight to run Winchester today she would then be a real driver.

Fluke , setup, i don't think so ! Now if Milka Dunno had won then you would have something to gripe about.

I took a look at the Laren Poorter website.

http://www.lauraracing.com/

Another girl racer, looks like she has bought into the Western Speed team with K&N filters. She is from Holland and has run some karts.

Couldn't find any open wheel wins just a second place in a focus and a story about a crash that she totaled a midget and lots of testing.

Is this the next Danica??? She sez on her website that Danica is one of her hero's.

She is only 19 or 20 so I understand why other 20 year olds like her. Danica was already running open wheel cars in road racing.

Could Poorter be the next new thing?

The win for Danica came at the best time in openwheel racing. This is going to put more women in race cars across this great nation. There are just as many good women drivers as men because when they put on a uniform they all look the same. Go girls!!!! I also hope this will bring more people to all the tracks to watch the effort these people put into motorsports. Thank You Danica.

Now that makes no sense for the following reason --- there would be noone left to field a race!
