Just read that Angell Park will for sure be removing the inside guardrail and widening the track for 2014.

Not sure how I feel about that. I sure enjoyed the racing the way the track was.

Sun Prairie has booked the IRA winged 410 sprints on June 1 and July 20 and USAC sprints on June 22. Still question whether they can get the track wide enough for side by side racing for the sprinters but taking the inside guardrail is a good start.

I know what you mean but midget racing is struggling so i think it's an attempt on bringing a few more shows to the track with cars other than strictly midgets.

The July 20th IRA show i think is based on how the June 1st show goes. The IRA has a good following of cars and fans alike but it's Sunday night racing and even though it's only two dates the IRA guys usually have Sunday's off.

Removing the inside rail is all about shortening the track size at Angell Park. Powr-I has a goal to race on tracks smaller in size than the current third mile at Sun Prairie. I am going to wait and see how this shapes up. Sad to see the original Angell Park Speedway being shortened after all these years!

In my mind, this is like putting lights up at Wrigley field. Some things are just meant not to change and Angell Park is one of them. I realize that holding onto the past glory of the midgets at Angell Park may not be the wisest decision, but I hate to see them make changes to the track. I also agree with the comment that this has more to do with POWRI than with Sprint cars.

Finally, who are the main players this year for the track? I am assuming that it is the same promoter as last year, but what does the ownership group look like? Wasn't there changes with the volunteer fire department status?

Sun Prairie is one of the very few things that I miss about Wisconsin.

You are spot on. Widening the track to me means shortening the track just cause of how things are set up. I'm ok with this, i never wanted to say it before but one of my dislikes was i thought the track was to big.
