Just wanted to send a huge "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" to Mr. Rufus Parnell "Parnelli" Jones.
Mr. Jones will turn 80 on Monday the 12th of August.
Even though Parnelli was before my time I have long admired his talent, courage behind the wheel of a racecar and his unwavering displays of class and dignity.
His raw talent and quiet determination to be a winner in any type of racing machine may never be surpassed or even equaled in the sport we love.
Have a great 80th birthday, sir. And may you, and those of us who revere you as a racing icon join you in celebrating many, many more.
Silver Crown Championship Dirt Cars properly driven on a one mile dirt track are classic poetry in motion. Using that analogy, Jack Hewitt is one of the greatest poets of all time.

I remember Parnelli well when he burst upon the midwest sprint car scene. Racing with his racing west coast buddy, Hurtubise, against Foyt, Branson, George, Larson and a host of other brave men on the dirt tracks as well as the high banks. He really would put on a show at each race. What a Racer!
