Josh that is great news. Those students and their families are lucky to have someone like you. You are certainly a role model for many people.

I am now nearing the end of my 3rd 3year term as a school board member in my small town. I have been nothing short of amazed at the level of dedication and selflessness most teachers display. To be a good teacher of any student group is a much more difficult and thankless job than most people realize, and a special needs teacher has to go far above and beyond a typical classroom teacher with their level of dedication. Very similar to a successful racer, there is way too much time, work and expense for very little monetary gain, but the immeasurable rewards are priceless to both a racer and a teacher.

Josh, thank you for stepping to the plate and trying to make a much needed difference in the lives of so many children and their families...I hope what you lack in salary will be made up for exponentially in your sense of accomplishment and the appreciation others have for what you do.

Good luck.

Congrats Josh! All of what Darnell says is correct. My wife and I spent over 30 years each as educators in Ohio and the joy was incredible. As parents of a blind child, we saw from all sides of the profession how great people teamed together to maximize our daughter's success. Our daughter now has a bachelor and master degree. As an educator you will make an immeasurable impact upon not only children but co workers, administrators, parents, and the school community with your love of others, a strong work ethic, and a quest for lifelong learning. Best wishes for continued success in all of you endeavors!
