Devin Gilpin is having a season for the ages for sure. Saw that he won at Bloomington last night. Great job. But!

Would anyone else like to see him in a sprint car before the years out? Or possibly full time next year? I think he'd be really good in a sprinter!

What say you?

Stock car guy, he'll do late models.

You are correct in that he won last night, you would be even more correct to say he DOMINATED the rest of the field!

Really nice guy, really bright future in whatever he races.

He has a late model ride that he has won with this year. It wouldn't be too smart to go the sprint car route with the caliber late model ride he has and the abundance of high paying late model shows. Sprint cars just don't have the big paying shows.

There are about as many high paying modified shows around now as there are sprint car shows. Why invest in a car that costs a lot more to run for basically the same money? Sprint cars would be like a pay cut from the modifieds. I wouldn't be surprised to see him stay right where he's at in the modifieds. He could have a future in late models, but Indiana unfortunately has very few opportunities for a late model team. The great thing with a modified is that you can race anywhere and everywhere.

I'm also thinking of USAC route. Seems like if you turn heads in sprint cars, like Kyle Larson, Cole Whitt or Dakota Armstrong, you'll get an opportunity in a ride in the REALLY popular "stock cars". And sprint cars run for 10k most every night in the World of Outlaws. And it's hard to find a 5k to win modified show. (standard USAC show payout). If he has a ride in a good late model, never mind...no need to get out of there. I was just thinking of seeing him in the NASCAR ranks.

He's won 21 features so far this year. He's made more money then he would have finishing in the top 5 in sprint cars. Also with a top notch late model, he's making more then he'd ever make in a sprint car.

As for Bland, Cramer, Sterrett, and Short. Short has been the most successful. Bland wins a few, when he runs. Sterrett is just starting in sprint cars, and Cramer is done with them. Gilpin is doing fine where he's at.

This is kind of my point. He's simply dominating the modified division. I'm certainly not knocking the guy, he's on fire! And I respect him for that. I'm simply saying, wouldn't you or anyone else like to see how he does in a sprintcar? He's obviously got talent! I'd like to see how he does. If he's that good of a driver, I'd also like to see him on TV on Sundays too. I love seeing guys go from dirt racing to just crushing the NASCAR competition. That's all.

Honestly, If someone offered him a ride, Id say give it a try. Other than that, He'd be stupid to drop what he's doing and buy sprint/LM, Whatever.

As others have pointed out, He's probably better off financially both in operating cost and money earned than he could ever be in a sprint car. Even though I say Racers are Racers and can drive about anything if they are good. The Success Rate doesn't always transfer to another Venue.
