Excellent writing, excellent point. Living in Springfield Illinois I certainly agree that Indiana residents have a good thing.

I'll agree you Hoosiers have got it made having Gas City, Haubstadt, Terre Haute, Bloomington....all around and all running non wing shows.
But I have to give a shout for what's going on around St. Louis.
Granite City has picked it up a lot - first class place, great late models and a few sprint shows. Plus they are having a huge 10k to win midget race late this year
Belleville - a bunch of midget shows and one of the best tracks anywhere to see the midgets
Pevely - gotta love the high banks
Farmington - winged (unfortunately) sprints every Sat
Jacksonville, Il. - just two hours away, every Friday night non wing sprints
So it's not too bad around here...

Danny,
Another fine bit of writing. As I travel out of state to see racing events, I am always reminded that we Hoosiers are very spoiled. Yes, I love all types of racing and I have sat through many shows at tracks that certainly did measure up. Many times it takes the bad to remember the good. Hope to see you at the races.
PS. You can have both Britney & Paris, I'll take the 50/50 girl at Lawrenceburg!:O:

Danny; If the track you were referring to is Smoky Mtn. near Cherokee, it is indeed permanently closed.
I know what a good thing you folks have, that's why I try to come up there when ever I can. (which never is often enough :headbang)
So in the meantime I'm stuck in the land of "7 divisions usually over by 2 A.M.'' tracks.
Good article Danny.
