I'm gratful that the Burg allows coolers. Some tracks don't. Sure, I would bring in some suds if I could(don't care for Bud products). Again, I'm grateful the policy is what it is. It allows me to save a few bucks and helps with the racing budget. Thanks Dave.
10 post in Chuck, and the discussion has been respectful. Perhaps you need a little more faith in the majority of IOW fans.

Majority? Yeah, I have faith in that, Just saying they are in a no win situation and im sure they'll catch hell.
They catch hell if a dog craps on the fairgrounds. You think it won't happen for this?

Send the complaining Fans to Gas City, Kokomo, Anderson or even Kentucky Speedway where no coolers are allowed!

I've often wondered about this as I'm sure others have also. Please enlighten us as to the different types of permits available.

It has been a bonus to bring beer in all these years. Dave can not do anything about it! I am sure the county has lost plenty of money with all the casinos opening up in Ohio. Sounds like there tightening the belt and looking for extra income where they can so offset the losses. Eldora and Tony got blamed for the same thing years ago when actually Earl got fined when the state busted them for allowing beer to be brought into the speedway when they had a bar and 50/50 drawings. I will say there is not a big benefit to pay the extra 10 bucks to park on the backstretch other than to sit in a lawnchair which is worth it to me.

Just to be clear ... I am not complaining. The excise police do what they do, when they want to do it and there is often no explanation or rationale involved, however I do wonder what the differences in laws and permits are that allow some place to do things that other do not. I know that IMS has a special permit/exception specifically wrote into law for them. Why is Terre Haute or Haubstadt different? There are different permits available and they are all listed on the ATC website, but there is no explanation of the differences of each permit provided. If anyone has some insight I would love to hear the explanation. I can tell you that many people don't even realize that Indiana DOESN'T have an open container law. You can legally walk down the street with a beer if you like. You cannot have an open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. (like a sprint car for example) Lol

I don't understand all of the particulars, but I dealt with excise when I worked at Kokomo several owners ago. I would say they probably got a tip. I know IRP and Indy are exempt because they both have atrack over 2 miles in length on the property. Hey, it was fun while it lasted.
