Just got an e-mail from the Speedway that the Indy 500 tickets were mailed today. I've been to everyone since 1965, so this my 49th consecutive year. I know that it is not the same as it was back in the day, but it is a tradition with me that I thoroughly enjoy. I would love to see the rules changed to allow innovation in the chassis configurations and also allow stock block engines. I fondly remember Smokey's twin turbo Chevys' and the Gurney Weslake Fords. Could we ever see something like that again? Who knows, miracles do happen!

Oops! I forgot the plural rule; it should be Chevies.

Quite a stretch of going to one race ! I stumpled upon the 1939 movie Indianapolis in the wee hours of this morning, just seeing the old cars racing is amazing. Somebody pumping your oil pump and changing your timing as you drive, nope they dont make them like that anymore.

I went every year from 1960 thru 2010 without missing. 51years in a row.
Now I'm old, broke, and sick and am unable to go anymore.

I to miss the old days. Have NEVER missed the first day of qualifications in my lifetime. mom and dad took me in diapers. Been to every race since 1959, thats more than half the Indy 500's . Had the honor of seeing the 150mph,200mph and latest track record broken. Hearing Tom C. announce the 150 mph barrier been broken was amazing, everyone sayed thats it they can't go any faster. Boy where they all wrong. Sure I miss the old days but Indy is still King. That weekend has a little of everything in the form of racing right here in good old Indiana. Just think how many fans through the years have said, "BACK HOME AGAIN IN INDIANA " Wish they would play that song at all races during Indiana sprint and midget week.

Got mine yesterday. This will be 30 in a row for me. Been going since I was 10.

There is not a race-day anywhere that compares to the 500. Seeing them come by 3 wide on the first pace lap is something to see. Agree that it isn't everything it was (driver wise), but it's still the best event of the year for me.
