Much like the above mentioned LaCrosse, Rockford (IL) Speedway host a good amount of "Thrill" type events...some guy named "Dr. Danger" was there last year!
For us "real" racing fans, they DO also have 3 of the "restricted" style midget races (IRS) scheduled in 2013 too!

Of of the shows I remember as a kid. The jet car that "burned up a street car" The guy in a dune buggy that would do a ramp jump over a few cars, The dynamite lady. The real thrill for that was she drove from track to track with a chevy chevette full of dynamite. Other ones would be a guy that was towed by a car on roller blades and jump a car. A few motorcyle jumpers. Also the local track would do a penny toss for kids.
If no one in *this* crowd has seen a thrill show in the last few year, I think I'm going to assume that they don't exist any more. I guess the "small" acts, such as the ones mentioned above have proven more competitive. I assume the "Dynamite Lady" someone saw is doing the act made famous in the 70s by Benny Koske; i.e., getting into a box with a bunch of dynamite and blowing herself up. I spent a couple of days at a trade show with Benny back then; he was a real character.
Wow! Look at that schedule: http://helldrivers.info/the-tour/ They must tow a zillion miles! And, they are all fair dates; no combo shows with races. I guess that's where they've gone.

Hell, it's probably no louder than that "music" our grandkids listen to.
