Personally, I am glad that this is happening. In Indiana, they have dirt tracks that are essentially all the same size (with the obvious exception of Terre Haute)...

Where I'm from (the West Coast), they have 1/4 miles, 3/8 miles, and 1/2 mile tracks and it gives you a litle variety to see how these competitors adapt to different size race tracks. I applaud the efforts of Dave Rudisell and the rest of the Lawrenceburg Speedway management team. I want to see the the contrast of a 1/4 mile, a 3/8 mile and 1/2 mile racetrack. That is what makes our sport great. Kudos to those for who made this happen.

Don't get me wrong. I love big, fast tracks. I was asking more from the standpoint is that what the WoO and Usac wanted or something of that nature.

I don't think it's bad by any stretch, but I believe that on a local level some guys will move on.

Lets see, I know ten guys who B*tched about how bad the track is and how great the facilities are and ten guys who liked it slow and slick.

As a fan, I think Im gonna like the new track very much. Hopefully it all goes off without a hitch and it becomes the place to race and watch racing in the tri state area.

Chuck, thinking that 24/7 work schedual is gonna have to start pretty soon to make April 5th

Not really, From the looks of it, It's kinda like KC or a steeper banked Twin Cities.

I know the Burgs been a track that a lot of drivers came too because it was easy on motors. It was also a track a lot of drivers went elsewhere for numerous reasons, several of which were already fixed last year.

Brock, I know you liked it, expecially when it got a little slick. Your opinion is no less important than mine and even though your one of the racers, It shouldn't be more important either.

You got two choices, Back gate. Low payout because fans get bored with it. It even happened last year to some extent *Strong crowds early and late season* or a exciting track with full stands and hopefully bigger payouts in the future..

I really think the track needs this. As Mills said, there are tons of quarters and very little variety. The Burg now looks like something *World Class* and something both racers and fans will *NOT WANT TO MISS* every week.

Hopefully we can get a fan base in which a regular show could pay 2500-300 to start and more important for the promotor. That they could sell more advertising and afford to run a few WOO shows and stuff so that they could be successful too.

Loren said it a long time ago. THEY ARE MAKING NO or little money (Several tracks are operating like that). Dave said the promotion company that brought the WoO pulled out because the lost money two years ago. Like it or not, A track needs some *Big shows* to actually be profitable. As it was, without a ton of sponsors they didn't make a dime on it and often operated at a *LOSS*

Maybe you will have to freshen a motor to make it through a whole season instead of getting through the whole year on one fresh motor, But wheres it written that it HAS TO COST YOU 6-8 grand to do so when you should be able to do it for about 1500 *YOURSELF* I get the feeling half the cost of racing is self inflicted because of the ease of shipping it out, Ordering as you need it. Running the two lap tire just because it's a tenth quicker for qualifying. Hiring a crew chief when a little knowledge of the car you can make a few adjustments yourself and be a front runner, Buying your fuel at the track at a dollar fifty more than ordering a drum ect. ect.

As a fan, I think it's gonna promote a lot more side by side racing. People up against the wall and guys setup to run low and a little bit of both. The Burg as it was could and did have good racing some of the time but way too often it was a huggy pole track that people got bored watching. Expecially when the times fell from 12 second laps to 17 second laps that the mods ran faster in the features than the sprinters.

After this, A Pit restroom/shower, Turn two snack cart and maybe a backstretch grandstand and there will be no better dirt track in the nation IMHO A track in which they could have better money regular shows and some world class specials. As a sprint junkie, I can find something to enjoy about racing no matter what the conditions or count but to get and keep new fans. It's gotta be special and something you don't want to miss.

The rumor is the HFC is going to three nights, Odd even and 50 grand. Thats right there with the Knox, Kings, WG national open and gold cup. Hopefully we can get a non wing of that caliber.

Your right, It is jumping the gun as I haven't seen a race on it yet. I just hope it's a track that will draw and keep new fans and racers and bring racers back those currently going elsewhere for the most part.

Id just love for this to be a track with *THE LAWRENCEBURG Nationals* The biggest Non Winged race in the nation. A track racers race all year at to get the edge to Win that race ect. A track fans come to see em and a track that provides exciting racing every week.

We'll see, best of luck to you and all in 08 and for gods sake, Try it before you knock it

Chuck, currently stoked about the new track and also thanks to all involved in Getting er done.

I'm beginning to see more of a resemblence to Florence, rather than KC. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. As a fan, I love a fast race track. As a dad, I rather see it a little slippery'er. It does look as if we're still in "back gate" mode, though. I think I read somewhere on here that Dave signed on with AMSA for 5 years.

Let me say right off the bat I do not have an opinion yet on the new track. We have talked to some people that will not go back because of the larger track, they are concerned about there motor and the fact that at the higher speeds there are no small crashes.

Chuck you say that we could freshen our motor for around fifteen hundred ourself, Josh has been doing this for almost fifteen years, of those years we could do the Quarter Midget, the 600 and the Sprint car motor cost so much more that in our mind having someone that knows what they are doing is the safe bet. As far as new tires the guys that have money will spend money the little guys will do what they have to to survive.

I understand some of the fears of the little guys as we are still in that group, yes we are better off now and will do all the dirt U.S.A.C shows, but the little guy that did not get the same break we got over the winter due to friends investing in Josh's future still have to do what they need to survive and right now a high banked motor track just is not in there best interest.

As I said before I do not have an opinion yet on the new layout there, I do however hate the fact that the old Kokomo Speedway is just a lot of good memories, some of the best races I ever seen were at a flat four different corner race track with a wall all the way around it. Trouble is you can not go back now. Good luck to everyone involved.

I'm glad we're going to have a little more variety in Indiana. I like the 1/4 mile bullrings but like a little change every once in a while. I've only been to Lawrenceburg three times and was never really impressed and after going last year to the Sprintweek show I really didn't plan on going back. I really didn't see the point in driving nearly three hours to see a dusty and slick 1/4 mile track when I could drive 12 minutes and see an excellent 1/4 mile track here at Bloomington. But I can't drive 12 minutes to see a high-banked 3/8 mile so I'll probably make a few trips down this year. I applaud:applaud: Lawrenceburg for what they've done and I really hope it works out well for them. I think they made a wise decision.
