This was another instance where the track safety crew did not know how to put out an alcohol fire and the driver suffered badly from it. Spraying chemical on an alcohol fire wont do a thing and it took a few of the sprint car drivers to run to there trailers and get water to finally put the fire out.

Although not life threatening burns of any kind are painful.

Only local news this morning was he is being treated for burns on his arms. Last night at the track it was stated he had burns on his arms and legs. It was hard to see from where we were sitting at the track. But it seemed he was in the car a long time before he got out. Also the car sat at the top of the banking of the track with what looked to be fuel running under it-burning. I have watched Jeff race more years then I can remember-hope he has a fast return to racing.
Our prayers go out to the Bloom family. Jeff get well soon! This brings back bad memories of what happened to my little brother a few years back. Something needs to be done to get these Safety crews on-board with the hazards of Methanol!! Jeff my thoughts are with you.
