It will probably take away more than just 13 cars. Unless you're a top qualifier for Saturday night's finale you might be better off running the tv race so I'm guessing a big drop off Saturday, if not the whole weekend. Even if it's 16 cars you lose two heats and a main. The A will be the same but the rest suffers some. It's really frustrating because this thing was about to become huge, now it's just kinda big. You still have the non-wing sprints all three nights, last I heard.
From what I have heard this is not a POWRI vs USAC problem. I heard it is one powerful voice vs Tri City. People complain about wanting races to pay more, and you get a big event and someone tries to hurt it. I wish POWRI would not have done this, but I am sure they were put in an bad position. I do know this is not going to help the sport as a whole. I will be at the Gold Crown, and I will go to POWRI races when I can, just not this one. I also am a big fan of Little Belleville.

Possibly cooler heads might reconsider the scheduling? Here's hoping
Randy,
None of us really know what goes on in making these kind of decisions. There may be factors involved that we don't know and probably never will know. In looking at it from a fans perspective, racing midgets 25 miles apart on the same night certainly isn't the brightest move. I can only hope that this might change but I am certainly not expecting it to.
Hope to see you sometime during sprint week. Any ideas yet on which dates you might be attending?
Mike
Be nice to people on the way up. You might need them on the way down. Jimmy Durante
At this point, it looks like only Terre Haute and Puttucky are the probabilities....job interference has reared it's ugly head again.
I have got to retire.....
"Movers and shakers" are always busy at events like Chili Bowl. Several years back, I was at the Chili Bowl BS-ing with a former MARA champ when Kevin Gundaker came by. He was seeking input for the possiblities of staging the Gold Crown, and did not mention any particular sanction.
I also spoke with a principal in Gateway when that group was just getting a good start by Brown/Siner. He said directly to an Indiana driver I was with and to me that one of their goals was to bury the USAC midgets.
Tough to fully cooperate with people who want to ruin you, even when cooperation would be good for racing and racers.
I live in Collinsville IL. Its a 15 min drive to Belle Clair or a 15min drive to Tri City. It makes no sense for us to go to Belle Clair where it pays $2,000 to win and $200 to start where you can run Tri City where it pays $10,000 to win and $700 to start. Granted our local team has a better shot of running better with POWRi then we do with USAC but all it takes is that 1 run to change that. Regardless of whomever is at fault my team will be at Tri City, just as we were there last year and at the Hut 100 last year.
