I remember driving by this race track for many years as a kid. Looked as if it had been abandoned then. Then on a Sunday afternoon, they were racing as we drove by. I never saw cars there again. Just kind of wondering what happened to that place. Always looked like a neat venue. Anyone remember this place?

I think you are talking about the old Sweet Owen Race Track right on state road 46

most likey sweet owen speedway, short bus raced there he can tell you a few storys,

Must have went off of turn 3, staight down you could see tree tops level with the top of track.You needed a change of shorts if you went off it!

Years ago I won many races at Sweet Owen. It was one of the best little quarter mile tracks that I ever ran on and in 48 years I ran on many. This little place was loaded with stories and history "The good old days!" Kenny Carmichael made a comment and he grew up there for his father was flagman at one time.
