WoO kicked off their 30th anniversary season with 46 entries and excellent racing. Many slide jobs tonight. Only two new faces (Kerry Madsden and Justin Henderson).
Quick Time: Craig Dollansky
Heat Winners: Daryn Pittman, Joey Saldana, Greg Hodnett, Chad Layton
C-Main: Sam Hafertep
Dash: Daryn Pittman
B-Main: Jac Haudenschild (last lap pass off four to beat Lasoski and DeWease also passed Stewart off four to get last transfer; exciting B-Main)
Feature: Craig Dollansky, Donny Schatz, Terry McCarl, Lance DeWease (from 23rd starting spot), Jason Meyers.
Excellent race though they had two reds. First when Steve Kinser and Pittman were passing Brian Ellenberger on front stretch. Ellenberger touched with Pittman and flipped high and hard. Second red was in three and involved Kraig Kinser and Shane Stewart.
Scariest incident of the night occurred in one of the heats. Tony Bruce was leading and suddenly snapped around in three/four and exited out of the track gate in four backwards at a really fast clip. They park a lot of the graders and track equipment out there and it's amazing he didn't hit anything. Could have been very ugly.
UMP Mod winner for the second straight night was Jared Landers from Batesville. Mod race ran quickly without caution.
When I checked the New Smyrna website and found out the Central Florida Wingless Sprints were not on tonight's line-up, I opted to go back to Volusia (TBARA is in action tomorrow night).
Truly amazing how the WoO can draw a crowd. The ticket prices go up $10 and there are fewer cars on hand, but there were probably more fans oh hand tonight than all three nights with the All Stars combined. The place was packed. Of course, it helps that this is Friday and the NASCAR crowd is now in town (and they were apparently promoting tonight's race at the big track and the fact that Schrader, Wallace and Edwards would be in action in the mods; of course Schrader and Wallace have been there every night).

Good report. I'm downstate a ways and usually go up to Volusia at least one night but I just can't make myself go this year. I know it's one of the few dirt tracks left in FL (Ocala just got rid of their pavement) but I'm not a WoO fan. They do draw a crowd out of Daytona, but perhaps the only sprint car racing many NASCAR fans have ever heard of is WoO. Having said that, I do believe I'll go to Citrus County and New Smyrna for the TBARA events. Imagine that, passing on dirt to watch winged sprinters on pavement.

Al the reason is the TBARA is a lot better racing than the Woo is and New Smrna is a great track to race at.I do not like asphalt racing that much but will say I do go there for there shows. As for the outlaws charge to much and no passing anymore so they can stick there shows up there a!!.

I'll agree that the WoO shows are too expensive, but the racing last night was great. If all you did was watch Lance DeWease you saw a tremendous amout of passing. Had to come from deep in the B-Main pack to get the last transfer on the last corner and then move up from 23rd to 4th in the feature. Also, Terry McCarl started 14th or 15th and finished third. Tim Shaffer was on the charge and entered the top5 when he got bumped by Chad Layton. Had to go to the rear and in 15laps moved back up to finish 12th. This was not follow the leader train racing.
Overall, I'd say the Outlaws put on a good show 70-80% of the time. The only Outlaw show I went to last year that just didn't pan out was at Dixie Speedway and that track is always hit/miss no matter what's running on it (and probably why the Outlaws won't be back this year).
On the other hand, the show at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, TN) was awesome and they will be back for two shows this year.
Of course my opinion is slanted, but only 410 non-wings and super-modifieds consistently deliver the goods when it comes to great racing.
I thought about going to New Smyrna, but I'm glad I did Volusia again. Don't think it would be hard to get a seat at New Smyrna. Looking at the photos on Speed51.com, looks like they got lots of empty seats.
I'm checking out of the hotel and I'm pondering going to the track for another night and napping in the car before heading home. After 6 sprint shows the last eight nights, what's one more?
I really wish the ARCA race was a stand alone event. I'd gladly go to that this afternoon and then leave. See how Stenhouse and some of the other up and comers fair. I drove by the big track last night after the Volusia show and it was really quiet. Not much activity for the night before one of the races.

Madsen and Henderson are by no means new faces to sprint car racing.
I tend to hit bullrings for WoO events (I-55, Haubstadt, etc.) which usually make for good races. I'm just fortunate I live close to those tracks.
At DuQuoin last month I bought the DVD of the race from Paducah last year. It was very very cold that night but the outlaws put on a good show that night.
But I agree traditional wingless sprints almost always make for a good show each time you see them.

Petey, I was referring to the fact that last night was the first night Madsden and Henderson were competing at Volusia this week.
