As a driver and member of a team I can only ask that we keep this topic on track to express our concern for the irreversible damage that this fuel is currently causing this series. We cannot continue to burn engine's up while searching for ways to drag this along. Its stated that this is the savior for crown racing yet the racers have seen nothing but free fuel and 5 thousand dollar rebuilds. I hate to be the loudmouth here because its not my style but the modifications that teams are making right now are flat ridiculous. I wont mention what all is being done behind closed doors but its getting out of hand. Bottom line is Sharon and Keith and Sc96 and others are right, 10 percent of the teams are working to cater to this fuel and in the end, it'll only fix 10 percent of the problem which we all know wont work. Keep ignite, make it optional for teams, add incentives to run it, let the high budget teams spend their r&d money, just maybe when the truth eventually comes out on what the switchover takes, teams will then be able to switch because they aren't being led on with false claims of nozzles only.
To ignite: if you care about the future of your companies reputation, why would you not demand usac to release the mandate . Thats less fuel your giving away and it shows you care about the series more than you do about making a dollar. Your business model surely cant include shoving your product down people's throats. Comeon guys.....
They wont make it optional because nobody is going to risk burning down a motor for a couple houndred bucks. And my guess is ignite is paying some serious cash to be the title sponser. And what does usac have invested 0 Nada, Zilch , Its a cash cow for them they reep the rewards and leave the car owners to pay the piper. I know how it feels to get hooked as Sharon calls them Boat Ankers I own 2 New Generation boat ankers. Anyone got a boat I can use
In an article by Mike Leary in National Speed Sport News, it states that it is "a free 55-gallon drum of fuel". I interpret that to mean ONE drum of fuel, not free fuel for the entire season. Can anyone confirm my understanding?
"USAC has arranged for a free 55-gallon drum of Ignite to help teams get started, as well as an arrangement with Kinsler Fuel Injection for discounts on the new nozzles."

Groove Grabber is just about spot on. What is it going to be like next year when rest of USAC divisions are required to run this fuel? Ignite wants to be involved in the sport, that is a good thing. Are they willing to take the next step & share engineering resources & help the engine builders/teams reduce the learning curve on this fuel? There is 40+ years of knowledge base on methanol, to get the fueling right with ethanol is going to take some time. Without help from USAC and Ignite to figure this out, you will continue to see a drop in the car counts. I don't think Ignite wants that as a sponsor and USAC should not want that for their product.
